THE FIRST EUROPEAN TRY BEFORE YOU BUY INCENTIVE EXPERIENCE Nassfeld, Villach, Wörthersee, Klagenfurt 25 – 28 April 2018

LIST OF EXHIBITORS & PROGRAMME

Dear business partners, kindly welcome to the sunny Carinthia, destination where work & pleasure goes hand in hand. From the picturesque views, crystal clear lakes, surrounded by magnificent Alpine peaks to inviting seminar hotels, first-class conference centres, exceptional event locations – Carinthia will be a perfect place for your next incentive! The idea of the first “Try Before You Buy” incentive experience was born in 2017 when we have collected more than 60 incentive programmes in the Incentive Ideas Book. The next step is giving incentive travel planners the opportunity to test out individual incentive programs at the event itself. Carinthia is Austria’s southernmost province and lies at the centre of the Alps-Adriatic region, closely connected to our neighbouring countries. By using the motto “Meetings without borders” we aim to connect the rich offer of the Alps-Adriatic region. Our first “Try Before you Buy” experience will bring together suppliers from Austria, Italy and Slovenia to present their best products to incentive agencies and corporates from 13 different European countries. We are glad that we have the opportunity to meet you inperson, inspiring you with new ideas and programs to choose Carinthia as your next destination! MEETINGS WITHOUT BORDERS The entire Carinthia region is a hospitable, easily accessible and safe destination, set amidst alpine incentive destinations that are amongst the most attractive anywhere in the world. The prestige hotels and an excellent culinary offer are where Carinthia really shines and its incentive package with numerous programmes puts it at the very top of the offer in Europe. Connecting different incentive programmes and bringing them together is the Carinthia Convention Bureau, an entity that takes a strategic approach to incentive travel. They offer over 60 programmes, usually a combination of education and active fun, but the one binding aspect of them all is that quality always outweighs quantity in Carinthia. In Carinthia they are also conscious that incentive programmes organised by companies for their employees have a positive effect on sales, productivity, loyalty and overall satisfaction. As incentive travel is a highly structured and strategic activity, it’s useful to go over the building blocks that make up Carinthia’s complete incentive product.

5 GOOD REASONS TO ORGANISE AN INCENTIVE IN CARINTHIA 1. High standards of infrastructure and an equally high quality of living 2. A stunning alpine location with crystal clear lakes and pristine nature 3. A wide range of meeting venues 4. Regional food culture with excellent dining spots 5. Endless incentive ideas and exceptional delegate experiences The common ingredient of all the creative and diverse incentive programmes in Carinthia is high quality in close connection with the local culture and excellent cuisine. Incentive programmes have long been a connecting link between different fields such as culture, science, art, cuisine, history and nature. All of this puts Carinthia and its incentive product at the very top of European congress destinations, with huge potential for the future.

Klagenfurt

the hip southern terrace of the Alps

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria’s southernmost provincial capital, will cast its magical spell over you. Just a few minutes’ drive from Italy and Slovenia, reflected in its three tastes, three cultures and a southern way of life somewhere between festive and serene. Small shops and cafés in passages, inner courtyards and the central Old Town squares invite visitors to stroll and stay a while.

Cycle and walking paths lead along rivers and streams in all directions – including to the warmest bathing lake in the country with the largest lakeside lido in Europe. Feeling in the mood to party? Klagenfurt is the main stage for many big events – such as the flamboyant World Bodypainting Festival, the extremely athletic Ironman Austria, and international music concerts.

VILLACH

WÖRTHERSEE

As the seventh largest settlement in Austria and second largest in Carinthia Villach manages to captivate visitors with its easy-going, Mediterranean lifestyle. The town is also an important transport intersection for the whole Alpe-Adria region, with the Italian and Slovenian borders just a short hop away.

The Wörthersee, located in the 3-Corners Region of Austria, Italy and Slovenia, though not Austria’s biggest lake, is definitely its most popular. Nestled amidst mountains and hillsides, it enjoys an almost legendary reputation: for its great events and nightlife, but also for pristine landscapes, peace and relaxation.

Cultural experience

10.00 – 11:30

09:30 – 10:30 Monkey Mountain “Affenberg”

Carinthia’s most stunning lookout point – standing on the platform at 70.6m and gazing out on the magnificent landscapes which lie at your feet. The wooden viewing tower at the Pyramidenkogel, which at 100 m is far the highest in the world, has the longest covered slide in Europe, three accessible viewing levels, a panorama elevator and a skybox that is protected from the weather.

On the Affenberg (“Monkey Mountain”), you can see monkeys running about free in nature. Visitors aren’t separated from the animals by cages or glass. The scientific manager Mrs. Dr. Lena Pflüger will be your guide and you will learn a lot about the monkeys and get to observe the Japanese macaques. 10:30 – 12:00 Eagle show on Landskron Castle During this private guided tour you will first visit the zoo with various birds of pray and afterwards we will arrange you a private show in the eagle arena. The primary aim of the eagle show is to let people have closer contact with birds of prey and owls and to share some important facts about them.

11.30 - 13.00 Maki, Nigiri and Sake? Experience exotic delights, explore the tastes of Japan and get to know the art of SUSHI preparation. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden’s Chefs are looking forward sharing their experience with you. Your sushi creations will be served as first course of this days lunch menu!

12:00 – 12:30 Transfer to Hotel Karnerhof at Lake Faakersee

Culinary experience

13:00 – 13:30

12:30 – 13:30 Lunch at Hotel Karnerhof with typical Carinthian Food

Onboard a SPEEDBOAT we are heading towards our next lunch-course. You will experience the region from a completely different point of view. There is a saying that you only get to know the region of Lake Woerth once you have been on board a boat. You will pass by amazing historical villas and castles, on the way from Velden to Pörtschach.

Enjoy a typical Carinthian lunch with the view of turquoise blue waters at lake Faakersee. Thanks to regional products of the highest quality, masterful culinary handicraft and imaginative cooking flair, the Hotel Karnerhof is considered one of the finest gourmet hotels in Carinthia.

13:30 – 14:30

Active experience

The historic BADEHAUS at the Werzer’s Hotel Resort is a unique location all over Austria. Built in 1985 in the typical Wörthersee architecture, it has already then been a bathing house. Located at the shores of the Lake it has been rebuilt in 2013 and accommodates a panorama SPA area as well as a restaurant.

13:30 – 15:00 Canoeing Tour at Lake Faaker See Led by a canoe guide, you’ll set off from the Karnerhof dock to explore some of the secluded spots on the Faaker See. This tour will take your team along the shoreline to the “reedy alley“ and to the picturesque island in the middle of the lake. Powered by your own muscles, the team will enjoy a unique experience. The tour will end at the private beach of Naturel Hotel Schönleitn.

14:30 – 15:30 SUP THE LAKE – You will start paddling with a professional guide from Pörtschach, along the coastline and finishing at the Schlossvilla Miralago. (Distance approx. 1,5-2km) You don’t feel comfortable on a SUP? Don’t worry – alternatively, you can walk along the promenade to the Schlossvilla Miralago

Adrenaline experience 15:00 -16:00 Teambuilding in the hotel village (high ropes course)

15:30 – 16:30 At the Schlossvilla Miralago a past era is still omnipresent: the good old times at the classic summer resort, the nearly forgotten holiday feel which is celebrated here in an equally relaxed as well as stylish manner, surrounded by pristine nature.

In this idyllic setting, congress organisers can also find a village that can be fully rented for your next incentive trip or special event. We will explore the village and try some activities of the high rope course. Security is of paramount importance here, so the panoramic high ropes course is supervised by skilled guides. 9

The menu, which strictly follows the seasons, interprets Slovenian and Austrian culture and traditions, fused with the Italian. The cellar is dug into the karst rock and boasts an important collection of distilled spirits and 800 labels of wines from all over the world.

Duino Castle, owned by the Princes of Torre and Tasso, was built in 1300 upon the ruins of an ancient Roman outpost. The massive complex with its composite architectural style overlooks the Gulf of Trieste. Over the centuries, it has offered hospitality to many illustrious people, including the poet R.M. Rilke, Empress Elisabeth of Austria (known as Sissi), the Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Charlotte of Belgium. On the tour of the castle and its gardens, guests can admire the forte-piano played by Franz Liszt, the Palladio staircase, the view of the Gulf of Trieste from the top of the tower, the rampart walls overlooking the sea and the bunker built in 1943 by the German Kriegsmarine.
