As we wrap up 2022 and reflect back on the last 12 months, we have a lot to be proud of throughout the organization. In 2022, the company entered our seventh state (Utah), grew with five new partnerships (ProSport, FIT, SCAR, Larchmont, and DOTC), opened five new clinics, and are currently seeing over 5,000+ patients every day throughout our 143 clinics. Growth like this only happens when our patients are getting great care and a great experience every day in our clinics, and I am very proud to be able to represent a company where I know that is happening with each patient.
Over the last two months, the importance of the patient experience side of things has become even more real to me, as I am a current PT patient. In early October, I completely tore my right triceps muscle which I had to have surgically repaired on October 18th (I tripped, landed on my extended right arm, and tore the muscle...need a better story). This is the first surgery I have ever needed and a triceps tear is a pretty uncommon injury. My immediate thoughts went to all the things I wasn’t going to be able to do: lift weights, use my right arm for any pushing/pulling activities day to day, being active with outdoor activities. I have been on the other side of those conversations for years as a PT, helping patients think positively, setting short and long term goals, being motivational…now I found myself needing to hear those things from both a trusted surgeon and physical therapist. Having people you trust in your corner, helping you, and being there for you, is so important throughout the rehab process and it further reinforced in my mind all the great things we as a profession, can do for our patients.
Everyone has a story, and we have the ability to influence those stories and our patients' lives on a daily basis creating unforgettable interactions. Thanks to everyone for all you do, each day, for not only our patients but for
Happy Holidays to everyone in the TPG family of brands!

“SCAR has been a resource for therapy, wellness, and sports medicine in our community for almost 50 yrs. said Jim Herkimer, SCAR PT. “I am excited about our new relationship with Therapy Partners Group as it will allow us to continue to grow and provide the personalized, highquality care our community has come to expect”.
Our CEO, Brent Mack, had to have surgery on October 18th to repair his right torn distal triceps
muscle.
This was the first major injury and surgery Brent has had in his life, and his first time needing physical therapy since high school.
Brent's post injury mind immediately went to what he won't be able to do anymore. What about the day-to-day things he enjoys? Would he ever be able to get back to his previous lifestyle?
He has never seen a torn distal triceps repair in his 20+ year career as a PT and knew it would be a lengthy rehab with this fairly rare injury. He had to make a quick decision to have surgery and found himself very vulnerable about how the immediate future might look as far as daily activities go. Typically, he likes to lift weights/work out as his main source of exercise, and thinking about not being able to do that for 4+ months was very disheartening.
Talking with a trusted surgeon and physical therapist helped him deal with the circumstances, and being a patient the first time allowed him to realize how valuable that support system can be to someone.
Takeaway
"We have an opportunity every day to make a positive impact on our patients' lives, more so than we may all realize. Everyone has a story and we can be that bright spot, show our patients we are here for them, and create an unforgettable interaction."
"Currently, I am about six weeks out of surgery and in an arm brace preventing active flexion of my right elbow beyond 90 degrees and avoiding any active firing of my right triceps muscle. I started physical therapy to work on ROM and light strengthening for the coming weeks and hope to be back to 100% by mid-February 2023.
The Impact, both physically and mentally, we have on our patients every day has been highlighted to me throughout this process. Without having those reinforcing voices and support system, I would have really struggled throughout this lengthy and slow rehab process. Having people in your corner, uplifting you when you are down, is Incredibly helpful and I am witnessing that firsthand as a patient."
