BEYOND THE STRETCH A THERAPY PARTNERS GROUP NEWSLETTER
A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES I am beyond excited to have joined Therapy Partners Group! For those I have not had the pleasure of meeting just yet, I wanted to share a bit about myself! I am originally a west coast gal, born and raised in Seattle, WA! Yes, that means Starbucks runs in my veins, I say “pop” instead of “soda” and I’ve never fully recovered from losing the SuperSonics! I graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, and went on to get my Masters from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA (Go Zags!). While in school I worked full-time as a recruiter and gravitated toward the exhilarating, engaging, and ever-changing world of HR! As the daughter of two Podiatrists, Physical Therapy was a big conversation topic at the dinner table growing up. My parents talked about the interplay and direct partnership needed between both professions. They have witnessed firsthand the patient success story from operation through recovery when there is synergy. Although I saw this from the outside looking in, I also suffered a rotator cuff injury after years of playing competitive volleyball and owe my quick recovery and fluid mobility to my PT! I’m thrilled to be working for a cause and for the betterment of patient care. Throughout my career, I’ve had the incredible opportunity of being involved in very versatile roles and projects in the HR realm all impacting the employee life cycle, to name a few, compensation and benefits, risk mitigation/governance, immigration, mergers & acquisitions, workforce planning & analytics and employee engagement. I’ve also worked in a number of different industries including telecommunications, content marketing, technology, and food safety. In my few short weeks at TPG, I have seen so many opportunities to expand and build upon our reputation of being the best in class both internally and externally. My main priorities are to evaluate and execute the most competitive and comprehensive offering for our employees over various pillars including onboarding, retention, compensation, health, retirement, and wellness. I will oversee the People Operations team along with Total Rewards and report to Megan McCarty directly. I’m located in the Bolingbrook, Illinois office, and I’m hoping to get out soon to visit you all! I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity to work with and partner with each of you! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions. I promise HR doesn’t bite 😊.

PHYSICAL THERAPIST HEALTH TIP
Start with a straight hand
Bend first joint of digits keeping your finger tips straight
Straighten first joint of hand, bending the tips of your fingers to create a hooked fist
Make a full fist bending all joints of hand
TENDON GLIDES Purpose: An injury to the hand can result in swelling, stiffness, and scar formation resulting in limited tendon excursion and impaired functional grasp. LANDO
OWNER: KELSI BRINK TPG Marketing Team
1. What is your dog’s weirdest quirk or what makes them unique? Lando loves piggy back rides. When he really wants attention or just wants to love on you he will come up to you on the couch and jump on your back. It really is the cutest thing, he just wants attention or he wants to go outside.
2. What is the worst or funniest thing your dog has done? He likes to put toys under the couch and when he was really little he tore up the underside of the couch by digging sideways underneath..brand new couch.. he is adorable but will have to fix that one day haha.
3. How would you describe your dog’s personality in one sentence? Lando is a little baby trapped in a dog's body who will love you no matter what.
4. Give us a fun fact about your dog: Lando loves to punch, yes like a kangaroo, he punches. You hold his toy too long, you’ll get a paw to the face. If you are asking him toomany questions, yes, a paw to the face. It’s hilarious but also painful haha.
5. What’s your favorite thing about your dog? This is such a hard question because I love so much about him. He is such a big lover it’s the cutest. He is 80 pounds of pure lean muscle and long legs but that boy will cuddle you to no end.

CELEBRATING HAND THERAPY WEEK What led you to specializing in hand therapy and what is your favorite aspect of the job?
DOUG FOSCO MOT, OTR/L, CHT
" I've always been interested in the intricacies of treating the upper extremity and the challenges that go along with it. Choosing the pursue the CHT specialty was a natural progression of my career. One of my favorite aspects of the job is that no two injuries tend to be the same. We are treating the whole person and not just the extremity, which adds a level of complexity that is both challenging and rewarding. As a therapist, I have had the opportunity to meet people from many walks of life. I enjoy learning about their life experiences and career paths and ways to incorporate areas of their lives into the rehabilitation process. "
