We couldn’t be more excited to offer to the public the $230,000 high seller at our 2025 JWC Production Sale, JWC Engage 144M. The mating of two breed legends, 8543U and Broker, weighed heavily on our minds since the day we bought 8543U back from Rust Mountain View Ranch. From the day he was born, we knew he was different, and we just crossed our fingers that he would stay healthy and make it to this point someday. Throughout the year, Engage, has impressed us at every stage of development. He was the stoutest and most massive calf to wean off his particular pasture and has always been intriguing for his amount of true power and volume. After weaning he continued to do the things that solidified his position at the top. Perhaps what doesn’t come directly to the visual eye is also something that is of great importance to us. His DNA genomics further enhanced what we were hoping 8543U would complement Broker with, more calving ease and lower birth weight. Zane Ward called after seeing this bull at Chris Allen’s and after further review, it was a no brainer for us to approach the opportunity. Greater Good’s mother, WHF Delilah, has been on my radar for years and it was only fitting that we’d eventually be drawn to this son of hers. Calving ease, cow family, look, structural build, hair quality, and presence are all attributes we are receiving in the first-born calves by this great sire. On paper, he has no flaws, and in the flesh he is impressive. We are excited to incorporate his influence into the next generation of the Simmental puzzle, and he has been a great piece so far. After many videos via text from my good friend Zach Greimann (AKA Cuzzy), we bought this bull. I could tell he was good and was very excited to get him home. Nonetheless when Craig Kaisand pulled into the yard to drop him off, I wasn’t prepared for how hard Just Cuz would hit me when hopping off the trailer! Initially his natural presence was overwhelming. His most comfortable position is standing, chewing his cud, with his head way high in the air. I kept staring at his wildly hairy and flexible wheels. From a correctness standpoint he’s awesome. His body and mass is on point. His overall balance and presence is beautiful. He’s tested Homo Black and Homo Polled and to top it off he has been used successfully on heifers by multiple breeders with calves on the ground. We will be breeding a lot of heifers, cows, and flushing donors to this bull heavily. He is a must use bull in 2025 for shear quality and added value.

Crossfire The Performance Sire of the future for our program. We purchased this bull from Bruce Cuddy in his dispersion sale of High Ridge Farms in North Carolina. Backed by Bruce’s top donor cow, Crossfire was an outlier for performance where he boasted the top weaning and yearling weights of his contemporaries. His overwhelming mass, shape, length and shear volume is impressive. What makes him special to us is that with all his performance attributes, he has incredible feet, is loose hided, and is so flexible on the move.

One of our favorite purchases of the 2023 Sale Season from our friends at Horizon View Farms. Great physical specimen in the flesh. Kickstart is one of our best-looking bulls in person. We love his hip and hind leg, rib cage, and hair quality. He has been used with success on heifers this year and the calves are good. Most calves weighed between 65-80, however we did help a few that were upper 80s. Horizon View Farms has a bunch of Kickstart babies on the ground that look the part, call Colton Buus to get his opinion. We are very excited!

Sheridan 1883L is the kind of bull that you could drive from all ends of the country and still maybe not find one with his kind of build, stoutness, and sheer presence. A bunch of cool adjectives could be used to describe him, but they still don’t do justice to what this bull looks like in person. Few bulls I have ever been around are as commanding as Sheridan is. I’m not sure I have ever been around an animal that is so wild looking from a neck and profile standpoint but then still has this kind of power. He proudly boasts a masculine skull with width between his eyes, huge, good feet, added bone and power, and a tame but arrogant presence. His sheer quality makes him a viable option to add quality to any set of cows let alone make your next high seller in a show heifer/bull sale setting. First calves will be arriving here soon and I’m betting we hitch the wagon again once they hit the ground.
DOUBLE RUN
Double Run has been a quiet riot to our small but increasing Angus program. He is so impressive to look at in terms of offering more shape (rib shape and muscle shape), body mass, correctness of skeleton, and natural presence. No-holes kind of a bull that can genuinely benefit about any female. He will sire show cattle that can sell high and win. We are having great success using him on our Angus and Chi and Maine females, with our first SimAngus arriving soon. He should mate perfect to Maines and Chis to add body and punch. Use with confidence, he has been used by some of the nation’s top breeders and we can’t wait to see what his future holds.
