Holton Cattle | 3rd Annual Production Sale

Page 1

We are pleased to welcome you to our third annual Bull and Female Sale. We sincerely appreciate your time and interest in our program.

Holton Cattle Company was founded in 2001 as a small operation. Our journey in the cattle industry began with a commercial cow-calf operation and feeder cattle, but over time, we developed a deep appreciation for the Red Angus breed. For the past 12 years, our primary focus has been transitioning our herd to Red Angus. After years of refining our genetics, we are proud to present this year’s offering.

Our program is built on proven genetics originating from C-Bar Red Angus. We have assembled an elite group of donor females with established genetic merit, including two of our most valued cows—C-Bar Stony 720E and C-Bar Abigrace 635D, a flush mate sister to the renowned 9 Mile Franchise 6305. With this strong foundation, we have developed an intensive AI and embryo transfer program, emphasizing high growth and carcass merit while maintaining maternal strength and herd-building qualities. This year’s sale includes several bulls from sires and dams raised right here on our ranch. We are extremely pleased with their performance and believe this is our best offering to date.

We recognize that we would not be where we are today without the abundant and undeserved blessings of God, along with the dedication of an incredible team. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our family and friends who have supported us over the years, including Jake and Ashely Saunders, Ezekiel and Nelly Soto, Becky Holton, Shannon Lowrey, and Don and Brenda Lane. Even though we lost Donny in 2023, we will forever be grateful for the wisdom, guidance, and support he offered to us over the years. We are especially grateful for the friendships we have formed along the way and for the unwavering support of our children— Carter (20), Casey (16), and Claire (9)—who keep us busy with their activities while also contributing to the ranch.

Our goal is to produce high-quality cattle with exceptional performance, phenotype, and genetic merit. We invite you to visit and evaluate the bulls and females in this sale. This group has been a pleasure to develop, and we are excited to share them with you. We are happy to answer any questions and assist you in selecting the right bull for your operation.

Once again, we appreciate your interest in our program. To our returning customers, thank you for your continued support. To those joining us for the first time, we look forward to meeting you. We hope you are as excited about this off

2024 GRID MASTER AWARD WINNER

The Grid Master award is presented annually at the Red Angus Association of America Annual Convention. It is in recognition of commercial Red Angus ranches and feedyards that continue to demonstrate their ability to combine superior genetics with precise marketing. It rewards cattlemen and women who have brought high quality cattle to harvest that excel in both quality and yield grade. It’s a testament to one’s breeding program and the dedication to making the end product the best it can be. It’s one of the most honorable and prestigious awards given by RAAA year after year. Congratulations to Holton Cattle Company on their success.

The strength witnessed in the U.S. cattle market has been noted for the past twenty months. It seems that every day, a new record is set for one class of cattle or another. Feeder cattle have been rewarded, fat cattle are being rewarded, and the salvage value for pound cows and bulls is as good as it has ever been. Paul Holton is on the marketing forefront as a marketing representative for Superior Livestock, and so he knows and understands the commercial marketplace as well as anybody. Like most of us in the industry, he doesn’t have the answer of “if and when”, but just promotes the optimism that each of us has for this market to be here for a while yet.

Paul Holton started Holton Cattle Company as a commercial operation. He worked on various ranches in the region and began running yearlings alongside a smaller commercial cow herd. After the union with his better half, Ginger, they expanded the cow/calf sector of their program and significantly tightened the reins on the yearling project. Drawing from their experiences with different breeds and options, they were attracted to Red Angus cattle for their maternal instincts, heat tolerance, and adaptability to the harsh conditions and environment commonly faced in central Texas during the long summer months. Paul and Ginger selected the genetics that suited their goals and the phenotype they envisioned for the cattle. With the experiences of the commercial side of the beef business, the couple had a general idea of what they wanted their product to look like, and that’s why this herd of Red Angus cattle come with the extras in terms of foot size, substance of bone, genuine skeletal width and integrity in build, center body mass, and beef business shape that will minimize the yield grade 4 and 5 cattle at harvest.

Holton Cattle Company has grown in both numbers and time commitment. The Superior Livestock aspect of the business model has drastically expanded; consequently, Texas has lost another of its great Ag Teachers as Ginger has chosen to dedicate her time to the ranch and step away from the public education system. Her involvement at the ranch will be instrumental in enhancing the already meticulous record keeping, alongside managing the day-to-day ranch work and the responsibilities of raising two kids still at home. Twenty years ago, the plan was for it to be a family entity, and that’s what it has become- something the family of five and Paul’s mother will cherish and enjoy for decades to come.

We believe this offering of Registered and Commercial Red Angus stock is one of the very best, not only in the Southwest region but also in the country. We are certain that when you study the videos and analyze the information in this sale book, you will find something suitable for your program’s needs to move forward. When you invest in Holton Cattle Company, you’re not just purchasing your next herdsire or donor dam; you are investing in a relationship that Paul and his family will strive to maintain and preserve for the next generation. Besides the commercial producers Paul represents through his Superior rep status, he also visits seedstock providers, especially those connected to the genetics presented in this sale book. The outfit treats their seedstock firm like a business, starting with the records, genomics, and genetic selection, and concluding with follow-up service. However, they truly value all relationships formed as it reflects their preferred way of living life.

We encourage you to make the trip to Cisco, Texas for the third annual Holton Cattle Company Production Sale. Besides the bulls and registered females, there will be 100 commercial open Red Angus females that come with all the necessary measurements and herd health on board.

Join the family on Sunday evening, March 16, for dinner, and take in the full event. Lunch and hospitality will be served as well on sale day March 17, 2025. If you should need any assistance with any additional information or making your investment selections, please reach out to Paul, any of the ranch team, or the team with Innovation AgMarketing for further assistance.

Enjoy the cattle and may God Bless our country and continue watch over those who protect our freedom to do what we enjoy!
