URBAN ZOO

Site selected Moor place ,London

Typology Office space

Completed Academic work ,2022

The initiative Urban Zoo concentrates on pet-friendly workplace including pets within the space and providing them with all the required facilities.

The project transforms the office space into a pet friendly and accessible work space that will benefit both employees and their pets. There are several advantages to bringing pets to work, they enhance communication, encourage a healthy lifestyle, assist to decrease stress, create a positive work environment, and increase productivity. A workplace pet will spend their days surrounded by familiar people who can show them the attention they need rather than being left at home alone or placed in a daycare that might prove pricey.

The main focus of the project is to convert the existing office space into a space where employees and their pets can work, play and spend some valuable time together.Since most of the employees are forced to leave their pets at home or at day cares it will cause a kind of depression among pets and their employees affecting their mental wellbeing which can be reduced by creating such a space. Day cares and clinics being time and money consuming and the lack of time to spent with pets force the employees to look for options like these places.

The other group of people are the ones who really look forward to work in a creative and fun interactive office space to promote their work efficiency.

The project aims at bringing in such employees to the office who would like to bring their pets ,or not,do work, let their pets have their time and entertainment and go back home together. The place also provides a great platform for the pets and employees to interact and socialise with others .The space also gives a chance to the employees who cant afford buying a pet to rent out or play with the pets in these places. The design incorporates a lot ofinteractive ,freeflowing, unconventional working features, seating arrangements, pathways to make the place look fun and entertaining.

“Bring your pets to work and create a new revolutionary workplace”.

The concept behind the workspace is to create an atmosphere of zoo or animal natural habitat where employees and their pets are encouraged to spend time together having food, fun and socialise.

The idea of zoo vibe is to maintain the same natural homely vibe where pets are grown,so that they feel the same within the office space.Pets when exposed to nature enjoy their freedom running around, having fun which is to be brought into the office space. So,they dont feel like they are somewhere else in a closed chamber.

CONCEPTUAL SPACES MOODBOARD

As we all know when a group of different kind of animals ,birds, and other organisms are put together within a closed space for a specific purpose to showcase or to be protected it is referred as a ‘ZOO’.

Similarly if we compare this with the employees within a closed office space performing a specific task is also another version of zoo .So ,as here all these animals(pets, humans),birds and other kinds are sharing this innovative pet friendly office space for the purpose of improved mental wellbeing and work efficiency,it is suitable to call this space as an URBAN ZOO’. - A revolutionary workplace.

VISUALISATIONS

The plan is created taking into account the many needs of the users, starting with the workplaces, relaxing areas, food requirements, pet play areas, and other fundamental necessities. An open and light design was created by redesigning and remodelling the current plan. The zookeepers’ area, which serves as the plan’s first point of contact, is followed by the main lounge also known as aviary. The goal was to make the workplace welcoming for the staff and to foster a wild atmosphere. The area has a strong sense of playfulness and openness. The lounge offers circular sitting inside a wooden cage with a cat tree and relaxing cage corners on the sides. The food area, or “coop,” is located on the left side of the plan, and the “hive” workspace is on the right. The reading nook is located behind the lounge, the web which then opens into the kennel an exclusive pet zone.

The Pandora residence is situated in a stunning setting with a tranquil ambiance and breathtaking views. With a modern twist, Pandora celebrates the green idea of nature and eco-friendly living while providing visitors with a memorable experience. The main aim of Pandora is to immerse visitors in a dramatic world so that they feel as though they are actually living there. Its lagoon-like design offers clear views of the dawn, sunset, night sky, and other alluring sights. The sightseers are able to experience whatever they see, whether it be a sunrise or a sunset or anything else the sky and the sea have to offer. The building’s structural design features east and west wings that display the sunrise and sunset, respectively, and a central section that focuses on the infinite beach. To generate the same feel of the views inside, the interiors are made to mimic the views using its colours ,textures and other elements.A visitor may see sunrise while standing in an east wing, and the interior of the wing gives him the impression that he is in sunrise. Colors, patterns, and textures are all components of a perspective. The general design of the structure is influenced by the glass and cyclades of Myconos. With naturally plastered outlines, arches, small walkways, curved shapes, and simple furniture and decor, the interiors and exteriors mimic Santorini houses.

The sole purpose of this concept is to encourage the visitor to face different instances that the site has to offer. As a means to do so, the building takes the role of a filter, segregating spaces defined by different perceptions of the sky, the sea, the rock, the wind. Contrasts of rough and smooth textures, light and shadow, built and natural elements emphasize the connections between the visitor, space and nature.

PANDORA HOME

Making a moodboard made it simple to evolve the idea. The major motivation for creating this moodboard was to bring spectacular vistas of the sky and sea. A series of photographs depicting sunrises, sunsets, and an endless sea images that includes water bodies and limitless arches. By integrating plants, open areas, curving, flowing pathways, rough and delicate textures, moodboard conveys a sense of tranquilly and peace. The notion that emerged from the moodboard eventually resembled ones used in Santorini residences. Blending these Santorini homes with tints of sky,  made the concept. The Pandora residence was built using glass architecture and Myconos Cyclades-inspired arches, paths, and windows in abundance as a result of this idea. Additionally, the interiors of Santorini-inspired residences feature curved soft furnishings, mosaic or terazzo flooring, water features, arching paths, naturally textured plaster, free spaces, simple accents, etc.

Everything about Pandora home was made to match the concept.Dramatic concept required a choice of dramatic materials. The materials chosen from flooring to minute pebbles and plants match the concept of Santorini homes with a touch of sky for in each. The paints are in the shades of sky, ranging from sunrise ,sunset shade pallettes.Floorings have terazzo mossaic tiles with tints of Morrocan clay.Tuscan texturing for walls to make it similar to Santorini homes.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN

Three storeys make up Pandora. The bottom floor starts with an open entryway that leads to a communal area and a courtyard. A bedroom is located behind the sunset living room, which faces the sunset. The dining room, kitchen, internal courtyard, and bedroom—which opens up to the pool and arches—are all to the right. Behind the pool, there is a wine cellar, massage and spa room, family bathroom, and changing room.

FIRST FLOOR PLAN

Three bedrooms are located on the first floor level, and the sunset living area, which is cantilevered from the building, is intended to make the most of the sunlight.

SECOND FLOOR PLAN

The most intriguing area is on the second floor, where there is a master bedroom and master living area with an outdoor patio on one side. The other side features a rooftop cave pool, plenty of circulation, empty sun decks, greenery, and a home theatre. This is added to enhance the concept of the Santorini residences and cave pools.

The living room and bedroom that face the sunset on the ground floor are the house’s most intriguing characteristics. It is further enhanced by outdoor pools and arches. Another highlight of the house is on the first level, where there is a cantilevered sunlight living room with games and books. With its abundance of natural vegetation, sun rooms, cave pool, theatre, and other features, the entire second level is very interesting.

Each room is decorated and furnished according to a specific theme which range  from living areas with sunrise and sunset views to spaces with realistic plants. To emphasise the curves of the hand work, the entire area has natural plastered walls. The notion is further enhanced by the arches, caves, colours, plants, and softly curved furnishings.

BEE HIVE

Site selected Haywards Scout centre ,Galashiels Typology Scout centre

Completed Academic work ,2022

Bee hive is a collective refurbished project in the interiors of a nineteenth century structure that is used by the local community, including the Galashiels Scout Group, as well as theatre and dance teams. Galashiels Scouts meet at the Hayward Centre to carry out their activities, host programmes, hold sleepovers, and participate in other educational and athletic activities. The intention was to renovate the scout hall to make it more functional and sustainable, with an emphasis on scout activities and other needs. The most important consideration was to make the entire space inviting and cheerful .The project looked forward to find a versatile solution that can accommodate both indoor activities and games, as well as a nice storage solution. “Bringing the Outside In” is one possible topic that the users suggested. The main areas to concentrate included front hall, rear hall, corridor, sitting area, kitchen, and games room. Since the users were from different age groups each space is designed to meet to all their requirements including their activities, seatings, ergonomics, adjustable furnitures and equipments.

Front hall
03

The rebuilt project is located in Gala, amongst numerous significant structures. The town of Galshiels, located on the Scottish border, reminds us of old and historical structures, as well as a rural way of life. Galashiels is distinguished by its landscape elements, which include hills, mountains, the River Tweed, greenery, and wildlife. It provides an overall sense of connectedness to nature.

The design does a fantastic job of incorporating the bee concept. The theme of bringing the outside in will be strengthened by incorporating bees and their natural habitat into the design. Scouts and their immediate environment are transformed into a bee’s habitat. Bees and scouts have a lot in common, including their hives, the fact that they both work in groups, carry out specific jobs, improve their leadership, and go through several life stages.  Colors, repeating patterns, forms, and other components are carefully considered for the area.
