PHILOSOPHY Interior design has always been one of my interests, I am passionate about creating spaces that serve others, both functionally and aesthetically. I enjoy exercising my creativity and coming up with new ideas. I consider myself to be a creative person and I take pride in my work. I am attentive to details and I am very focused when it comes to completing tasks or projects. I enjoy being faced with design problems and the process that must be followed to solve them in creative and functional ways. My approach to problem solving involves alot of thought and writing down or drawing out ideas or notes about how I want to go about solving the problem I am focusing on at the time. Trial and error is a huge component when it comes to my design process.

I am a hands-on learner and do well under pressure. I believe that design is an essential part of everyday life. It plays a role in even the smallest of things. Without design, order would not exist. I believe that the purpose of interior design is to create spaces that are both visually stimulating and functional. Within that purpose, my responsibility is to create and maintain environments that are aesthetically pleasing, functional and safe.

THE ONYX A large New York hotel chain recently purchased a 1910 warehouse located your assigned city/district. Your client would like to attract a larger percentage of younger guests (ages 25-45) and business travelers. The interior should be upscale, and tech driven with amenities that appeal to this clientele. The client has indicated that the chain is open to suggestions related to the overall style of the interior. They prefer something more contemporary that attracts locals as well as travelers and creates a sense of community that ties into the local history and culture. Eclecticism – a mixture of old with new is acceptable.

CONCEPT

The vision for the Onyx hotel is to employ a mixture of dark elements such as marble, steel and concrete in order to achieve a sleek, mysterious environment that is not typical of most boutique hotels. Taking after its’ name, the interior will be outfitted with colors and fixtures mimicking that of the onyx stone as well as shades of emerald and sapphire. The furnishings and accessories used throughout the space will feature a mixture of industrial and luxurious finishes to pay homage to the history of the Meatpacking District. Lighting will be strategically used to create dramatic effects within the space. The design will employ energy-efficient practices and sustainable,environmentally friendly materials.Once this boutique hotel is complete, guests will want to seek out the unique aesthetic and history that this space has to offer.

Cleaver Grill & Bar will utilize elements that have remained relevant throughout the history of the Meatpacking district.

Materials such as stone, metal and wood finishes will all work together to create a dark and moody dining experience.

A variety of seating will be provided in order to accommodate patrons of all preferences and abilities. This will be a space that moth locals and tourists will find to be an accurate representation of the early era of the Meatpacking district.

Jaded Lingerie Shop will be an upscale boutique that provides a luxurious shopping experience for its’ patrons. The space will combine a mixture of old industrial and modern elements. This includes dark wood, antique brass, tinted glass, and leather. The space will be kept neutral in order to showcase an abstract, hand-printed wallpaper. This space will provide a fun and flirty environment for patrons to enjoy during their shopping experience.

CONCEPT The office of GRID Architecture will be designed to uphold the integrity of its vessel and inspire its users. It will reflect the creative and playful shape that the Pennzoil building is known for. This will be accomplished through long, geometric lines, free flowing space planning, and the intentional us of natural light throughout the design. The color palette for this space will reflect that of the outside world with the use of cool greys and whites with hints of bright red for accent.

This office environment will promote collaboration and creativity among its users by proving a harmonious mixture of open and closed areas that cater to group collaboration and focused individual work. This space will employ streamline furnishings to produce a relaxing environment that employees can retreat to and recharge. This office will promote the health and wellbeing of its users by offering access to a gym and healthy food choices. Walking into this space will not feel like walking into an architecture firm, but rather, a playful and interactive space where innovative ideas are born.

You will design the ceremony and reception areas which may be indoors or outdoors - you will locate the venue(s). Concept & Goals • Staying true to Insomnia brand

• Incorporating modern technology

• Encouraging interactive experience

The design of this kiosk will employ elements that will provide a diverse and rich experience to consumers.

At first glance, it may not be apparent that the kiosk is in fact an Insomnia Cookies store but upon interaction, patrons will be drawn in by the eye-catching graphics that display products, complimentary charging stations, and digital accent wall for the shopper that loves a good selfie. In order to meet WELL standards, this design will include a built-in water filtration system that is not only used for operational purposes but is available to all customers. Nutrition facts and allergy warnings will be seamlessly implemented, lighting that minimizes eye strain and seating/standing areas that accommodate different levels of comfort. For the employees, safety and cleanliness will never be a problem with ovens that have heat indicators and the easy to use, motion censored hand-washing stations. The most interactive feature of this design will be the digital interface that flows throughout the kiosk. Customers will be able to shuffle through menu items that include a brief description of their chosen guilty pleasure, at the touch of a finger. Lastly, colors and graphics will be utilized to ensure that the original branding of Insomnia Cookies will not be compromised.
