the bus stop offers 3,600ft2 of all-weather shelter by recycling two decommissioned buses set up by 2-4 people in 30 minutes. Offers a portable safe space capable of growing with its community’s needs. The intention of this design is to extend humanity to its guests.

City Relief’s unique approach to aiding those in our community currently experiencing homelessness deserve a space of equal quality and compassion. the bus stop provides a dignified experience from its aesthetic to its programing, centering around the agency and humanity of those seeking aid by providing options within a safe and comfortable space.
As needs develop, the bus stop can grow with the community. The flexible community room, between the two parked busses, can adjust in size up to 1,600 ft2. Air quality and temperature are regulated by cross-ventilation.
Beyond a warm meal and essential supplies, the bus stop hopes to promote the autonomy of guests by offering choices. Alternative food & drink options are dispersed throughout both warm shower & hot meal lines giving back the choice of what and when to eat. the bus stop further provides a secure safe space for a naturally lit warm shower.

1. The mobility of the buses allows for a reliable setup in most locations.
the bus stop is comprised of two buses. While one bus uses LavaMae’s guidelines to constructing a mobile shower. Its partner bus is broken into two services, 14’ food truck, and supply distribution booth.

2. The retractable canopy is self-supporting and capable of extending to support 200 people. Several access points on all sides ensure consistent perfor mance in varying occupancies & site restrictions.
3. The central 1,600 ft2 of flex space enables the program to adapt to the needs of each community.
One site may prioritize areas for private counseling while another may focus on creating opportunities for friends and guests to share a meal.

The integrated self-supporting canopy uses Giulio Barbieri’s Ready Box 2 system. The system is fully retractable using wheels for easy deployment.
