An Acme tap generates a trapezoid-shaped thread employed for rotary and movement transfer on machines. The acme thread, which has a 29-degree incorporated angle, is also used in heavy-duty presses, jacks, valves, and other frameworks

The metric counterpart of Acme Taps, a Trapezoidal Tap, has a 30-degree angle included.
