Courses grouped by theme Leadership and Management Appraisal Training for New Appraisers This course is designed to help the new manager comprehend the current appraisal process and documentation. This includes discussions on guiding self-reflection, using coaching methods, the use of the GROW model, objective setting tools, talent management process, career planning and inputting appraisal. This session can also be used for experienced managers as a refresher of skills and knowledge to lead a quality appraisal conversation.

Courses grouped by theme Leadership and Management Developing Effective Teams This session will enable managers to: Outline the factors that make a team effective Describe the life cycle of a team Apply techniques to support your team during change Embed continuous improvement in your team Reflect on own team's strengths and areas for development and develop and action plan to implement the key learning This course may be complemented by attendance on the ‘Managing Conflict and Difficult Conversations’ course. Efficient rostering Efficient rostering training is aimed at Managers who are competent using the HealthRoster Manager module and have either Full Approver or Roster Creator access.

It will give a greater understanding of the roster analyser, Staff Leagues and Safecare (if applicable to role).

By the end of the session the learner will have knowledge and understanding of: Unfilled duties, over/under contracted hours per roster period.

Requested duties / duties with warnings.

Headroom for annual leave, sickness and study leave.

Staff League data.

Safecare red flags, professional judgement and redeploying staff (if relevant to role).

Courses grouped by theme Leadership and Management ESR Manager Self-Service This course is suitable for all Managers in the Trust. It will provide an overview on how to use the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) from a Manager Self Service (MSS) perspective. It will also include an overview of ESR as well as how to access the Trust Business Intelligence links and the IT self-service staff management portal.

Please note: Attendees will be required to bring laptops to the session (if available) as it is a practical course.

By the end of the session, the learner will be able to: Review team absence; Review core skills compliance; Review appraisal, including adding an appraisal, health wellbeing or pay progression option; How to undertake a termination, update an hours change or amend a supervisor; How to access Business Intelligence Reporting dashboards; How to use the Trust Business Intelligence links for appraisal and core skills review; How to access and add an appraisal to the staff management portal in readiness for Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

ESR Manager Self-Service - Refresher This shorter online course is aimed at those Managers who are more confident in using the Manager Self Service areas on ESR but would like a refresher on the content or have specific queries they would like to explore.

Financial Decision Making & Budgetary Control By the end of the session, learners will: Understand how funding flows within the NHS Understand the importance of financial management and budgetary control Understand the different functions within finance and importance of governance and controls Connect to the finance team

Information Governance for Managers The course aims to provide managers with strategies for ensuring data security and compliance in practice.

The learning goals include: Gaining a comprehensive understanding of IG and its importance.

Learning about the key principles and practices related to data protection and information security.

Understanding the roles and responsibilities of managers in ensuring compliance and safeguarding personal information.

Familiarising with the Trust's policies and procedures related to IG. Developing skills to handle incidents and manage information effectively.

Courses grouped by theme Leadership and Management Introduction to People Management at Gateshead Health This course is suitable for people managers in the Trust. (We suggest participants attend this course within three months of starting their role. The aims of the course are to: Provide newly recruited people managers with a foundation in the expectations of people managers in the Trust Enable participants to use effective people management practices and strategies to manage and support their team By the end of the course with the use of resources participants will be able to: Explain what is expected of Trust managers, be a positive role model and accountable for managing their team to ensure the delivery of the Trust strategic aims and values Work with People and OD to make well informed decisions in line with Trust policies and procedures Develop strategies to ensure effective and inclusive communication Effectively give and receive positive and constructive feedback Apply techniques to motivate team members to enhance team engagement Develop techniques to understand their team’s health and wellbeing needs and promote an attendance culture Identify own and teams’ development needs and embed the learning.

Courses grouped by theme Leadership and Management Leading Forward at Gateshead The new Leadership and Management Development Pathway Leading Forward is the new development pathway available to all leaders and managers at the Trust and QE Facilities, regardless of experience, banding or whether you are clinical or non-clinical.

The aim of the pathway is to: Develop effective leaders and managers who are able and accountable for the delivery of the strategic aims and values of the Group Develop leaders and managers who role model the values of the Group, creating a compassionate, inclusive and safe environment for staff and patients Leading Forward starts with attendance at an onboarding day, followed by a Culture and Experience Workshop and the completion of modules tailored to your role and experience over 18 months, with input from both you and your line manager. Mental Health First Aider Champions Training for Managers Mental Health First Aid Champions training is aimed at line managers, and looks to equips managers with the skills and confidence to spot when someone in their team is struggling and know how and when to offer support.

Those who participate will gain the knowledge and confidence to provide mental health first aid for common mental health issues, boost their understanding of how to help build a mentally healthy workplace, challenge stigma and support positive wellbeing.

Attendees will be given access to a workbook, reference manual and quick reference card for the mental health first aid action plan.

Please note: if you have previously attended the 2 day Mental Health First Aider course there is no need to also attend this session.

The policy introduced a more caring approach when supporting those who are absent from work, providing effective support to staff who are returning after a period of sickness and increased the focus on the consistent management of short-term absences.
