Il mondo della moda dell’America Latina torna a Venezia in occasione della seconda edizione del “Concierto de Moda Internacional de Venecia” (CMIV), ideato e diretto dalla creatrice di eventi Antonia Jean, con il patrocinio del Comune di Venezia, inserito ufficialmente nel Programma de “Le Città in Festa 2023”. Per questa seconda edizione, che si terrà dal 9 all’11 giugno, l’alto artigianato di stilisti latino-americani come Giannina Azar, la cui presenza è confermata anche per questa edizione (fashion designer di star del calibro di Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez e Malunma e riconosciuta da Forbes come una delle donne più creative dei Caraibi e dell’America Latina), tornerà ad affascinare la città di Venezia. Un pubblico selezionato, fatto di influencer, buyers internazionali e professionisti del mondo della moda e dello spettacolo, prenderanno parte ad una tre giorni dove i protagonisti di questo “Concierto” saranno le preziose creazioni di designer affermati e giovani proposte. Un incontro tra due mondi, quello europeo e latino-americano, volto a promuovere creatività e storia del costume e della cultura latina e caraibica, portando nella città di Venezia una nuova proposta nel panorama fashion business.

Anche in questa edizione del CMIV 2023, Antonia Jean sceglie di organizzare all’interno dell’evento una serie di iniziative ed incontri per favorire una miglior divulgazione della moda latino-americana a Venezia. Durante i tre giorni del CMIV 2023 oltre alle sfilate ci saranno interviste, aperitivi e occasioni di network con stilisti, professionisti e celebrity presenti, per raccontare la cultura latina e mostrare agli ospiti stranieri quella veneziana. La domenica, giorno di chiusura dell’evento che sarà aperto al pubblico, sarà dedicata alla celebrazione dell’America Latina, con musica dal vivo e l’esposizione di alcune creazioni degli stilisti che hanno sfilato nelle giornate precedenti.

The Gala by Antonia Jean returns to Venice for the second edition fashion and music with influential designers from Latin America and the Caribbean from 9 to 11 June at the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel

The fashion world of Latin America returns to Venice for the occasion of the second edition of the “Concierto de Moda Internacional de Venecia” (CMIV), conceived and directed by the creator of events Antonia Jean, with the patronage of the Municipality of Venice, officially included in the Program of “Le Città in Festa 2023”. Also in this edition of CMIV 2023, Antonia Jean chooses to organize a series of initiatives and meetings within the event to promote a better dissemination of Latin American fashion in Venice. During the three days of CMIV 2023, in addition to the fashion shows, there will be interviews, aperitifs and networking opportunities with stylists, professionals and celebrities present, to tell Latin culture and show Venetian culture to foreign guests. Sunday, the closing day of the event which will be open to the public, will be dedicated to the celebration of Latin America, with live music and the display of some creations by the stylists who have shown on the previous days.

Il Malta Jazz Festival (www.festivals.mt/mjf), evento di punta del calendario maltese giunto alla sua 30sima edizione, rinomato tra gli appassionati per l’impegno profuso dagli organizzatori nel tentare di creare una reale ed autentica sinergia tra musicisti sia emergenti che celebri, inizierà il 10 luglio all’Embassy Hotel con un concerto di apertura di Daniel Sant, William Smith e Dean Montanaro. La settimana del festival proseguirà con concerti serali al Valletta City Theatre cominciando con il New York Blue Note Quintet, gruppo noto per essere uno dei più importanti esponenti della tradizione hard bop, con la partecipazione di Joe Magnarelli e Jeb Patton da New York.

Sandro Zerafa, Direttore Artistico dell’evento, nel presentare l’edizione di quest’anno, ha dichiarato: “Il festival è unico in Europa, e nel tempo è riuscito a costruirsi la reputazione di uno di quei rari appuntamenti culturali che combinano eccellenza artistica e richiamo popolare. In un’epoca in cui i festival jazz vengono annacquati e si allontanano dal jazz, il Malta Jazz Festival ha mantenuto costantemente un’integrità artistica attirando al tempo stesso nuovo pubblico.”

Uno dei principali artisti di quest’anno è la ventitreenne vincitrice di due Grammy come miglior artista emergente e miglior album jazz vocale nel 2023, Samara Joy. Naturalmente la performance di questa stella nascente è una delle più attese. E Samara Joy si esibirà al Ta’ Liesse il 14 luglio

Nella stessa serata suonerà anche Immanuel Wilkins, voce emergente, sassofonista e artista del Blue Note.

Il Malta Jazz Festival ospiterà anche Raynald Colom, noto per essere uno dei trombettisti più rispettati al mondo, così come il quartetto di Kurt Rosenwinkel con Greg Hutchinson, Doug Weiss e Nicola Andrio. Anche il Laurent Coq Trio ed uno dei principali cantanti jazz maschili, Kurt Elling, torneranno al Malta Jazz Festival. Elling, il chitarrista Charlie Hunter e la band presenteranno il loro progetto funk e soul SUPERBLUE. Il veterano del jazz locale Paul Giordimaina e il suo trio renderanno omaggio al defunto Charles “City” Gatt, mentre il sassofonista maltese, residente in Ucraina, Carlo Muscat e il suo quartetto eseguiranno musica dall’album di Carlo Wool.

Le tradizionali jam session avranno luogo al jazz bar Offbeat: questi appuntamenti gratuiti sono riconosciuti per contribuire a promuovere e rafforzare i legami della comunità jazz. Il festival inoltre propone agli appassionati e agli aspiranti musicisti l’opportunità di frequentare masterclass gratuite con musicisti jazz professionisti che offrono approfondimenti chiave sugli stili e le tecniche del jazz. Le masterclass per l’edizione 2023 si terranno, tra gli altri, con Immanuel Wilkins, Laurent Coq, Francesco Ciniglio, Jep Patton & John Magnarelli (Collettivo Blue Note).

The Malta Jazz Festival (www.festivals.mt/mjf), the flagship event of the Maltese calendar now in its 30th edition and renowned among enthusiasts for the commitment made by the organizers in trying to create a real and authentic synergy between both emerging and that you celebrate, will begin on July 10 at the Embassy Hotel with an opening concert by Daniel Sant, William Smith and Dean Montanaro. The week of the festival will continue with evening concerts at the Valletta City Theater starting with the New York Blue Note Quintet, a group known to be one of the most important exponents of the hard bop tradition, with the participation of Joe Magnarelli and Jeb Patton from New York.

One of this year’s headliners is 23-year-old two-time Grammy winner for Best New Artist and Best Vocal Jazz Album in 2023, Samara Joy. Naturally the performance of this rising star is one of the most anticipated. And Samara Joy will per- form at Ta’ Liesse on July 14th. On the same evening Immanuel Wilkins, emerging voice, saxophonist and artist of the Blue Note will also play.

The Malta Jazz Festival will also host Raynald Colom, known to be one of the most respected trumpet players in the world, as well as Kurt Rosenwinkel’s Quartet with Greg Hutchinson, Doug Weiss and Nicola Andrio. The Laurent Coq Trio and one of the leading male jazz singers, Kurt Elling, will also return to the Malta Jazz Festival. Elling, guitarist Charlie Hunter and the band will present their funk and soul project SUPERBLUE. Local jazz veteran Paul Giordimaina and his trio will pay tribute to the late Charles “City” Gatt, while Maltese saxophonist, based in Ukraine, Carlo Muscat and his quartet will perform music from Carlo Wool’s album.

The traditional jam sessions will take place at the Offbeat jazz bar: these free events are recognized for helping to promote and strengthen the bonds of the jazz community.

The festival also offers enthusiasts and aspiring musicians the opportunity to attend free masterclasses with professional jazz musicians offering key insights into jazz styles and techniques. The masterclasses for the 2023 edition will be held, among others, with Immanuel Wilkins, Laurent Coq, Francesco Ciniglio, Jep Patton & John Magnarelli (Collettivo Blue Note).

Lorenzo Cherubini, meglio noto come Jovanotti, si mette sempre alla prova. Esploratore del mondo, appassionato di viaggi, musica e nuove sonorità, è protagonista della seconda stagione di Aracataca - Nonvogliocambiarepianeta, docu-trip su RaiPlay. Con un cellulare e una action cam, il cantante di Cortona, classe 1966, ha filmato il suo viaggio in solitaria, lungo 3500 chilometri, dalle Ande all’Amazzonia, dall’Ecuador alla Colombia e dall’Oceano alla mitica Macondo: «È un’avventura, un racconto on the road come poteva esserlo l’Odissea. Non c’è nessuno che vince o che perde.»

Un viaggio attraverso mari e oceani, villaggi e periferie, musica, cibo e fatica…

«Una pedalata lunga 3500 km, 50mila metri di dislivello, tra salite e discese, foreste e cascate, sentieri e autostrade. Una pedalata alla volta, con la testa che si svuota e il cuore che fa il pieno».

Aracataca è il nome del paesino della Colombia dove nacque Gabriel Garcia Márquez, il suo mito letterario.

«A me ricorda un po’ lo scalo di Cortona, dove abito (ride!). Non ci sono attrattive ma è un luogo del cuore. Tutti ne abbiamo uno, come la Rimini di Federico Fellini. Considero “Cent’anni di solitudine”, il libro dei libri. Li ho visitato la casa museo di Marquez, piccolissima, dove ci sono le sue frasi sulle pareti».

In sella a una due ruote progettata con l’amico Augusto, proprietario di un negozio di biciclette a Forlì, Jovanotti è partito a fine gennaio, per un mese.

«Dopo la pandemia, tragedia collettiva e personale, era tempo di ripartire. La bici è fatta su misura per me. L’abbiamo pensata bene perché quando sono tornato dal mio primo viaggio, a causa della posizione del manubrio, avevo perso la sensibilità della punta delle dita. Questa pesava 40-50 chili. Però era comoda».

Il viaggio, la fuga. Un’ideale da inseguire?

«Per me viaggiare rimane una delle esperienze umane più ricche che consiglio a tutti, ai grandi e ai ragazzi. Aracataca comunica il senso dell’avventura: in un’epoca di passioni tristi, viaggiare è una forma di militanza. Siamo bombardati dalle notizie, sembra che sia il mondo a raggiungerci, invece è necessario raggiungere il mondo. L’uomo deve stare dove può fiorire, non appassire».

Quando è tornato a casa sua?

«Quando sono tornato il viaggio ha continuato musicalmente. Mi sono chiuso nel mio studio di registrazione e ho realizzato la colonna sonora mantenendo quello spirito. E’ sgangherata, un po’ sbagliata e sudata; questo racconta bene il mio percorso. Tutto un po’ rudimentale, come il mio viaggio. Quando torni da quei paesi lì cammini ballando il reggaeton, quindi meglio staccare».

Arriverà un nuovo album?

«Ho scritto tante canzoni, ma non pubblicherò nulla di tutto ciò nel mio prossimo album. Ho avuto più successo facendo questo viaggio on the road che al Festival di Sanremo. Tutto questo mi fa piacere perché vuol dire che qualcuno avrà preso la sua bici e chissà dove sarà andato».

La bici in città sembra essere un mezzo pericoloso, l’Italia non è un paese per ciclisti?

«Purtroppo in Italia non viaggio mai in bici. Qui ho l’ingombro della mia faccia. Ogni volta diventa una performance. Da noi le ciclabili non sono ancora una soluzione compiuta quanto, piuttosto, un contentino al traffico. Spesso sono segnalate soltanto con una striscia di vernice su cui, magari, parcheggiano le macchine. Non sono piste ciclabili ma suggerimenti.

Per esempio in Colombia ho visto un lavoro fatto bene, la corsia delle bici è la parte più importante della carreggiata ed è delimitata, quindi le macchine non possono oltrepassare e non ti vengono addosso».

Se potesse scegliere un compagno di pedalata, chi porterebbe nel suo prossimo tour?

«Tra i miei amici e colleghi vedrei bene Biagio Antonacci che è in formissima. Si allena sempre e ha un fisico da paura. Al contrario di Eros Ramazzotti che è pigro e vuole l’albergo figo. A New York, siamo andati in un ristorante giapponese e lui voleva la pizza. Così dopo il sushi, siamo andati a mangiarla. Penserei anche a Gianna Nannini, lei è una che fa tanto sport mi sembra pilates».

Explorer of the world, passionate about travel, music and new sounds, he is the protagonist of the second season of Aracataca-Nonvogliocambiarepianeta, a docu-trip on RaiPlay. With a mobile phone and an action cam, the singer from Cortona, born in 1966, filmed his solo journey of 3500 kilometers long, from the Andes to the Amazon, from Ecuador to Colombia and from the ocean to the legendary Macondo: «It’s an adventure, a tale on the road like the Odyssey could have been. There is no one who wins or loses.”

A journey across seas and oceans, villages and suburbs, music, food and effort…

«A 3500 km long ride, 50,000 meters in altitude, between climbs and descents, forests and waterfalls, paths and highways. One ride at a time, emptying the head and filling up the heart».

Aracataca is the name of the small town in Colombia where Gabriel Garcia Márquez, his literary myth, was born.

«It reminds me a bit of the Cortona airport, where I live (laughs!). There are no attractions but it is a place of heart. We all have one, like Federico Fellini’s Rimini. I consider “One Hundred Years of Solitude” the book of books. While there, I visited Marquez’s house museum, very small, where his sentences are on the walls».

Riding a two-wheeler designed with his friend Augusto, owner of a bicycle shop in Forlì, Jovanotti set off at the end of January for a month.

«After the pandemic, a collective and personal tragedy, it was time to start again. The bike is custom made for me. We had to plan it well because after my first trip, I lost sensitivity in my fingertips because of the position of the handlebars. It weighed 40-50 kilos. But it was comfortable.»

The journey, the escape. An ideal to pursue?

«For me, traveling remains one of the richest human experiences that I can recommend to everyone, adults and children. Aracataca communicates the sense of adventure: in an age of sad passions, traveling is a form of militancy. We are bombarded with news, it seems that the world is reaching us, but it is necessary to reach out to the world. Man must stay where he can flourish, not wither»

When did you go back to your house?

«When I returned the journey continued musically. I closed myself in my recording studio and made a soundtrack with that spirit. It’s ramshackle, a little wrong and sweaty; which tells my journey well. All a bit rudimentary, like my journey. When you come back from those towns you walk around dancing to reggaeton, so it’s better to disconnect».

Will there be a new album?

«I’ve written a lot of songs, but I won’t release any of that on my next album. I had more success doing this road trip than at the Sanremo Music Festival. All this pleases me because it means that someone will take a bike and who knows where they will go».

Cycling in the city seems to be a dangerous vehicle, isn’t Italy a country for cyclists?

«Unfortunately I never travel by bike in Italy. Here I have the burden of being recognized. Every time it turns into a performance. With us, cycle paths are not yet a complete solution, but rather a sop to traffic. Often they are marked only with a strip of paint on which, perhaps, cars park. They are not cycle paths but suggestions. For example, in Colombia I saw a job done well, the bike lane is the most important part of the roadway and it’s delimited, so cars can’t cross and they won’t run into you».

If you could choose a cycling partner, who would you take on your next tour?

«Among my friends and colleagues I would see Biagio Antonacci who is in great shape. He is always training and has a fearsome physique. Unlike Eros Ramazzotti who is lazy and wants a cool hotel. In New York, we went to a Japanese restaurant and he wanted pizza. So after the sushi, we went to eat it. I would also think of Gianna Nannini, she is someone who does a lot of sport, she looks like pilates to me».
