NELLA CULLA DEGLI STATI UNITI

Un viaggio nel cuore degli USA, là dove tutto è cominciato, è quello nella Virginia, alla scoperta di luoghi ancora poco noti ai turisti non americani.

La culla degli Usa è conosciuta come “triangolo storico” (“Historic Triangle”), e comprende alcune cittadine dove i primi coloni britannici si stabilirono quando andarono a colonizzare il Nuovo Mondo 400 anni or sono.Tre sono le cittadine che meritano una visita per ripercorrere le vicende che hanno reso gli Stati Uniti d’America il Paese che è oggi: Jamestown, Williamsburg e Yorktown. Il “triangolo storico” si trova a poco più di un paio d’ore di auto dalla Capitale, Washington D.C.. Le tre città sono collegate tra loro dalla strada panoramica Colonial Parkway, che in 37 km attraversa il National Scenic Byway. Il perfetto road trip da fare in America. È a Jamestown che nacque la prima colonia americana nel XVII secolo. La città, così chiamata in omaggio al re d’Inghilterra James I, fu anche la prima Capitale della Virginia (oggi è Richmond). Tra gli eroi cittadini c’è un certo John Smith, un mercenario che ebbe il merito di instaurare ottimi rapporti con nativi americani, in particolare con un’indiana di nome Pocahontas, che ha ispirato il celebre cartoon della Disney. Oggi Jamestown è stata ricostruita come parco a tema con tanto di villaggio indiano, forte e porto con velieri attraccati.

Williamsburg è considerato, invece, il più grande museo storico vivente. Fu qui che vissero personaggi come Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe e altri iniziarono a costituire gli Stati Uniti d’America. Ancora oggi, nel quartiere più antico, Colonial Williamsburg, è come fare un salto indietro nel tempo. Le antiche case di legno o di mattoni rossi costruite tra il ’600 e il ‘700 erano quelle abitate dai primi coloni e ancora oggi figurati in costumi dell’epoca, ma anche gente normale che ama indossare gli abiti tradizionali, si aggirano per le strade come fossero ancora nel 1600. Tra i luoghi da visitare c’è sicuramente la Christiana Campbell’s Tavern frequentata da George Washington. La cittadina di Yorktown, infine, è quella dove si conclusero le prime lotte per l’Indipendenza e che videro la nascita della nuova Nazione. Del primo abitato storico sono rimaste poche case, alcune appartenenti a privati. È qui che il generale britannico Charles Cornwallis si arrese al generale Washington nel 1781 tanto che questa sconfitta pose termine alla Guerra d’indipendenza americana. Tra i tour consigliati c’è la visita del campo di battaglia. Ma Yorktown ebbe un ruolo importante anche nella Guerra civile americana in quanto maggior porto per lo scarico dei rifornimenti. Per gli appassionati di Stati Uniti, di storia, per una vacanza tra storia e natura, questo è il viaggio perfetto.

Outdoor Nel Garda Trentino

Il Lago di Garda regala sempre grandi emozioni a chi lo visita, ma c’è una zona che è perfetta per le attività all’aria aperta. È la zona del Garda trentino, la sponda Nord del lago, che comprende paesi come Riva del Garda, Arco, Nago-Torbole sul Garda, Dro, Drena, Tenno, Valle di Ledro, Comano e la Valle dei Laghi, fino alle Dolomiti di Brenta, perfetta per fare passeggiate lungolago, tra sentieri, piste ciclabili, vie ferrate e percorsi di trail running, in una meravigliosa alternanza di paesaggi alpini e mediterranei. Sono oltre mille chilometri di itinerari. C’è solo l’imbarazzo della scelta.

IL BORGO RINASCIMENTALE IN UMBRIA

Sorto lungo l’antica via Flaminia, il borgo di Acquasparta, uno dei più belli d’Italia, si inserisce in uno splendido scenario naturale, tra valli e boschi. È un tipico borgo umbro, d’impianto medievale, ma che ebbe fortuna soprattutto nel Rinascimento, dettaglio che è ben visibile nella straordinaria architettura dei palazzi che si trovano nel centro storico, dove ogni anno a giugno si celebra la Festa del Rinascimento, che per 15 giorni offre un calendario di eventi storici e culturali, ma anche ludici e gastronomici, per celebrare la grande stagione rinascimentale attraverso rievocazioni storiche.

La Storica Bressanone

È la città più antica dell’Alto Adige e, ancora oggi, conserva un centro storico circondato, in parte, da mura, accessibile attraverso cinque porte. Le sue strade acciottolate costeggiate da portici sotto quali sono sorti negozi e tantissimi locali, sono un invito a passeggiare in ogni stagione. Da qui passò spesso Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart durante i suoi viaggi in Italia. Bressanone fu una città vescovile e sono tanti i luoghi da visitare, a partire dal Duomo con il suo chiostro del X secolo affrescato, al Palazzo Vescovile con il Museo Diocesano, l’Hofburg, fino alla Torre Bianca della chiesa di San Michele con le sue campane in miniatura. Una meta perfetta per la gita di un weekend.

In The Cradle Of The United States

A trip to the heart of the USA, Virginia, where it all began to discover places still barely known to non-American tourists.

The cradle of the USA is known as the “Historic Triangle”, and includes some towns where the first British settlers settled when they colonized the New World 400 years ago. There are three towns that are worth a visit to retrace the events that made the United States of America the country it is today: Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. The “historic triangle” is located just over a couple of hours’ drive from the capital, Washington D.C. The three cities are connected to each other by the scenic Colonial Parkway, which crosses the National Scenic Byway for 37 km. The perfect road trip to do in America. The first American colony was born in the 17th century in Jamestown. The city, named in homage to the King of England James I, was also the first capital of Virginia, while today it is Richmond. Among the citizens’ heroes is a certain John Smith, a mercenary who had the merit of establishing excellent relationships with the Native Americans, in particular with an Indian named Pocahontas, who inspired the famous Disney cartoon. Today Jamestown has been redeveloped as a theme park complete with an Indian village, fort and harbor with docked sailing ships.

Williamsburg is considered, however, the largest living history museum. It was where people like Thomas Jefferson lived, and James Monroe with others began to form the United States of America. The Renaissance Village In Umbria

Built along the ancient Via Flaminia, the village of Acquasparta, one of the most beautiful in Italy, is part of a splendid natural setting between valleys and woods. Historic Bressanone

The oldest city in South Tyrol and today it still retains an historic center partially surrounded by walls, accessible through five gates. Its cobbled streets lined with arcades under which shops and many clubs have sprung up are an invitation to stroll in every season. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart often passed through here during his travels in Italy. Bressanone was a bishop’s city and there are many places to visit, starting from the Cathedral with its frescoed 10th-century cloister to the Bishop’s Palace with the Diocesan Museum, the Hofburg, up to the Torre Bianca of the church of San Michele with its miniature bells. A perfect destination for a weekend trip.

Yorktown also played an important role in the American Civil War as the major port for unloading supplies. For fans of US history, it’s a vacation balanced between history and nature, making it the perfect trip.
