 A Spook-tacular October at BBIA!

Dear Members, Partners, and Friends,

October has been a thrilling month at BBIA full of powerful advocacy, community connection, and exciting engagement across our association. As the fall season settles in and a hint of Halloween spirit takes over, we are celebrating all the great things we’ve accomplished together.

This month, our Young Professionals and Education & Workforce Taskforce ventured out on a meaningful tour of Tom P. Haney Technical College. The experience showcased the bright future of our industry and strengthened our commitment to building a skilled workforce right here in Bay County. It was truly energizing to witness the passion shaping our next generation of builders

Our Government Affairs Committee has been working diligently behind the scenes and sometimes in the spotlight attending both the Bay County Legislative Delegation Meeting and the Panama City Commission Meeting. With strong leadership and member involvement, BBIA’s voice was loud and clear, helping guide decisions that impact the growth and development of our community Advocacy isn’t spooky when we stand together.

We also gathered for our October Lunch & Learn and Annual Business Meeting, where we reflected on the year’s progress, approved our 2026 slate of officers, and heard valuable updates from local leaders The energy in the room made it clear: the future of BBIA is looking bright no crystal ball required ✨

Adding even more excitement, BBIA was proud to participate in the Glenwood Housing Expo as the Career Connection Park Sponsor, showcasing the skilled trades in fun, hands-on ways for families and future builders alike Helping others take their first steps on the game board toward success? Now that’s what we call a winning move

As October comes to a close and we prepare to cast a spell of holiday cheer throughout BBIA, we are eager to continue the momentum with a lineup of fantastic events including our Fall Bowling Tournament, Golf Tournament, and November Lunch & Learn There is no trick only treats as we head into this festive season together.

Thank you for being an essential part of BBIA’s magic. You at keep our association strong and our industry thriving Tog foundations and bright futures today and in every seaso

With appreciation and Halloween cheer,

BBIALeadersRepresentat FHBAFallConference

The Bay Building Industries Association was proud to have a strong presence at this year ’ s Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) Fall Leadership Conference, held October 15–17 in Lake Mary, Florida The annual conference brings together association leaders from across the state to collaborate, share ideas, and help shape the future of Florida’s building industry.

Representing BBIA were several members who also hold state leadership roles: Garrett Anderson with Anderson Construction (Immediate Past President, FHBA), Curt Hartog with Pathway Builders (BBIA President and Area 1 FHB PAC Representative), Cosheene Timson (BBIA Vice President and FHBA Membership Representative), Brian Knox with Coastal Classic Homes (BBIA 2nd Vice President and FHBA Government Affairs Representative), Marty Perrett with Innovations Financial Credit Union (Area 1 Associate Vice President), and Chad Overby with ABC Supply Co. (FHBA Associate Director)

Together, the BBIA team connected with association leaders from across Florida to exchange ideas, share best practices, and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of the building industry During the conference, attendees learned about FHBA’s upcoming legislative priorities, including efforts to protect housing affordability, advocate for balanced regulations, and address key industry challenges in the year ahead.

The group also participated in the Area 1 Caucus Meeting, where members from Northwest Florida discussed regional updates, upcoming events, and opportunities for collaboration on joint initiatives within the area.

Stacy Roberts, BBIA Executive Officer, was recognized for her service as Chair of the FHBA Executive Officers Council, a leadership role that capped a rewarding year of collaboration with Executive Officers from across the state. Stacy’s dedication to strengthening communication, sharing resources, and supporting fellow EOs has been a tremendous asset to both BBIA and the statewide network of home builder associations

A special congratulations also goes to Garrett Anderson with Anderson Construction, who has just completed his service on the FHBA Senior Executive Ladder a tremendous accomplishment and one that reflects years of dedication and leadership BBIA is proud to celebrate Garrett’s continued contributions at the local, state and national levels.

This year ’ s Fall Conference was especially significant, marking the first under FHBA’s newly adopted governance structure, approved during the Fall Board of Directors Meeting on October 17. The updated framework strengthens member representation, enhances efficiency, and ensures FHBA remains firmly member-led The new model also streamlines future conferences to allow more time for collaboration, expert panels, and meaningful discussions on Florida’s most pressing housing topics.

For those interested in learning more, FHBA has released a helpful Governance 2025 FAQ that explains the new structure and what it means for members statewide You can explore it at www fhba com/governance2025

The FHBA Fall Leadership Conference is always a valuable opportunity to network, learn, and bring home new ideas to strengthen our local association BBIA encourages all members to consider attending future FHBA events to connect with peers, engage in statewide initiatives, and be part of the important conversations shaping Florida’s building industry

Government Affairs Committee: Advocacy in Action for Bay County’s Future

October was a busy and impactful month for the BBIA Government Affairs Committee, as we continued strengthening relationships and elevating our industry’s voice at both the county and city levels.

Panama City Commission

Engagement

Our committee attended the Bay County Legislative Delegation Meeting, ensuring state lawmakers are aware of the issues most affecting our builders including workforce development, attainable housing, permitting efficiencies, and regulatory challenges Maintaining strong communication with our elected officials helps keep construction policy moving in the right direction for both our members and the families we serve

Representation

BBIA also attended the Panama City Commission Meeting on October 28 to address concerns over the proposed Water/Wastewater Impact Fee Ordinance

After outreach from BBIA members and direct involvement from our team, the Commission unanimously voted to table the ordinance until a more reasonable, phased approach can be developed a major win for responsible housing policy

Leadership That Makes a Difference

Our success this month is credited to strong, dedicated leadership:

Curt Hartog, BBIA President

Brian Knox, Government Affairs Committee Chair

Their commitment to collaboration and solutionfocused advocacy has solidified BBIA as a respected partner in conversations shaping local growth and housing policy

Why It Matters

Public policy directly impacts:

• housing affordability

• workforce needs

• community growth

• project timelines and costs

BBIA’s active advocacy ensures that our industry has a seat at the table and that decisions affecting builders, developers, and homeowners are wellinformed and balanced

As we move forward, BBIA remains dedicated to building strong relationships with local and state leaders while continuing to protect and advance the future of the building industry in Bay County
