STAFFnotes January

A Strong Start to a Promising Year

January was a powerful kickoff to 2026 for the Bay Building Industries Association, and it set the tone for what we believe will be an impactful and exciting year ahead From signature events to meaningful education and advocacy efforts, BBIA hit the ground running.

One of the biggest highlights of the month was the BBIA Home Expo, which once again showcased the strength of our local building industry The Expo brought together builders, industry partners, and the community for two days of connection, innovation, and opportunity From exhibitor engagement to attendee turnout, the success of this event reflects the value our members bring to Bay County and the surrounding region and the importance of providing a platform that elevates their work.

January also featured a standout Lunch & Learn with Jorge Gonzales, which delivered timely insight and meaningful conversation for our members Educational opportunities like this continue to be a cornerstone of BBIA’s mission, giving our industry access to knowledge, perspective, and dialogue that helps businesses stay informed and prepared for what’s ahead.

Beyond events, January reinforced the strength of our leadership and advocacy efforts As we head into February, BBIA leadership is preparing to attend FHBA’s Spring Legislative Conference and NAHB’s International Builders’ Show. These opportunities allow us to actively advocate for our industry at both the state and national level, ensuring the voices of our members are heard and represented on the issues that matter most

This strong start is a direct result of engaged leadership, dedicated volunteers, and members who continue to invest their time, energy, and expertise into BBIA. We are incredibly excited about what lies ahead and confident that 2026 will be a year defined by progress, collaboration, and impact

Thank you for being part of BBIA and for helping us build momentum as we move forward together.

Warm regards,

NEW & RENEWING MEMBERS January

JANUARY BBIA LUNCH & LEARN SETS THE TONE FOR 2026

January’s BBIA Lunch & Learn delivered exactly what our members have come to expect a full room, meaningful conversations, and strong momentum heading into the new year It was an energizing and impactful way to kick off 2026, bringing together members, partners, and guests for an informative and forward-looking program

These monthly gatherings continue to play a vital role in connecting our industry, and January’s event was a powerful reminder of the value of coming together to learn, engage, and plan for what’s ahead We are grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a dynamic atmosphere.

We extend a sincere thank-you to our event sponsors, Kitchen Design Group, represented by Nick Wood, and South Oak Title, represented by Jacob Nye (“The Title Guy”) Their continued support helps make programs like Lunch & Learn possible and allows BBIA to deliver meaningful educational opportunities to our members

The highlight of the program was our keynote presentation by Jorge Gonzalez, President & CEO of The St Joe Company With more than 30 years of experience in planning, real estate, and community leadership, Jorge shared valuable insight on growth, development, and long-term vision for our region. His perspective on Northwest Florida’s future left attendees informed, inspired, and thinking strategically about what lies ahead

Thank you to our sponsor:

In addition to the keynote, the program included several important leadership and association updates Members were welcomed by BBIA’s new President, and we proudly recognized Terri Hoehn of Centennial Bank for achieving NAHB Spike Club status with nine Spikes a meaningful milestone in membership recruitment and advocacy A Government Affairs update from Brian Knox highlighted upcoming advocacy efforts, including details on the FHBA Spring Legislative Conference and opportunities for member involvement

The Lunch & Learn also served as a platform to share updates on BBIA programs and upcoming events, including progress on the 2025 Scholarship Home, reminders about the BBIA Home Expo taking place January 23–24, 2026, at the Boardwalk Beach Hotel & Convention Center, and announcements about new initiatives launching in February Members also received information on upcoming PWB, Young Professionals, Commercial Division events, and the highly anticipated Clay Shoot, which is quickly filling up.

We extend special appreciation to Brian Knox, BBIA Vice President, for a thoughtful invocation; Marty Perrett, BBIA Treasurer, for leading another well-run program; Smart Bank for greeting attendees at check-in; Capt Anderson’s Event Center for an excellent setup; and Angel’s Barbecue & Catering for providing a delicious lunch

During the program, we were proud to recognize our military personnel, veterans, first responders, past local presidents, and members of the BBIA Board of Directors thank you for your continued service and leadership

A heartfelt moment of the day came as we recognized the generosity of our BBIA family Angel’s Barbecue & Catering has long been a valued supporter of BBIA, and we are grateful to everyone who offered donations and support following the devastating house fire experienced by Victor and Marissa Hunt and their family This outpouring of kindness truly reflects the heart of our association Congratulations to Melissa Ryan of Century 21 Ryan Realty, who won the 50/50 drawing and graciously donated her winnings back to Victor and Marissa in support of their family Additional prizes included five Florida granite cutting boards and a Smart Faucet, generously donated by Kitchen Design Group and Winsupply.

January’s Lunch & Learn showcased the strength of BBIA a committed membership, engaged leadership, and a shared vision for the future. Together, we continue Building Strong Foundations and Connecting Bright Futures across Bay, Calhoun, Franklin, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, and Washington Counties.
