Gary Whitten began his first two years of college as a Biology major. He went on to obtain a Bachelor ’s degree in Commercial Art / Graphic Design with an emphasis in Technical / Scientific illustration and a minor in mechanical drafting. After 12 years as a freelance Advertising Illustrator, the Macintosh computer came into the market and changed the industry. He soon pursued three years of post-graduate studies in Desktop Publishing/Computer Graphics, Marketing, Advertising and Business organization courses in the evenings.

Gary has spent his entire professional career in visual marketing communications, with over 30 years of progressive experience in all facets of Art Direction, Graphic Design, Illustration, Product Photography photo-retouching and production for Print Advertising. His clients have included some of the most high profile companies in Phoenix & nationwide. He is not only a Macintosh® guru (over 20 yrs.), but also an Old School illustrator with his first 12 yrs. on the drawing board.

Before his mastery of Adobe Illustrator® and Photoshop® software, he was an accomplished airbrush illustrator & photo retoucher, working also in mixed media and pen & ink! His creative strengths are both right and left brained as you will see depicted in his diverse portfolio samples ranging from highly detailed product illustrations, architectural renderings, medical & scientific graphics as well as an equal talent for bold, colorful cartoons & amusement game graphics!
