All profits from the Quilt raffle and the exhibit go towards the operating expenses of the Museum.

EXHIBIT OPENING - MEMBERS ONLY Friday, December 3 from 7 to 9 PM Members are cordially invited to attend our exhibit opening Friday evening, December 3 from 7 to 9 PM. Come, view the exhibit and enjoy entertainment by the Intermediate School forensic students under the direction of their leader and coach, Mrs. Trudy Wolfe Larkin. These talented students have performed for us for the past several years.

Refreshments will be served.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED All Weekend Help your Museum during the exhibit by: baking for our baked goods sale, manning our entry table, greeting the public and showing them our Museum’s upstairs exhibits, assisting in sales, bringing your family and friends to the exhibit, assisting in the cleanup at 4 PM on Sunday. Call the Museum at 732-531-2136 to volunteer.

HELP NEEDED FOR SPRING TEA The Museum’s Spring Tea is being repeated in 2005 by popular demand. The sellout event will be held the weekend before Mother’s Day, on April 30 th, under the leadership of Lesley and Katy Dorsett.

EDEN WOOLLEY HOUSE The Eden Woolley House, our future home is being readied for its move through the woods to its new foundation now under construction. It will be located near the town’s new library.

This old homestead needs complete restoration before it can be opened to the public.

Our Executive Board is committed to raising a sizable amount of money for this project through a capital campaign. Attend the meeting on Monday, Nov 15 and learn more about our plans.

Now is the time to think ahead. We welcome your input and ideas. Come to the meeting with your thoughts about uses of the Woolley House. Can’t make the meeting?

Volunteers are needed for baking, making tea sandwiches and working the day of the Tea. If you are unable to volunteer time, consider donating new items for a gift auction. The committee will be putting together theme baskets such as: gourmet foods, beauty and bath, tea for two, home decorations, fragrances for the home, holiday/seasonal entertaining, eating out, wines and pastas, etc.

The profits from the Tea will again go to the Woolley House Restoration Fund. If you are willing to help out or donate to this project, please call the Museum 732-531-2136 or Lesley Dorsett 732-229-0510.

GIFTS THAT KEEP ON GIVING Stumped for a gift for someone who has everything? For a birthday? For an anniversary? For a retirement? The birth of a grandchild? For a memorial? When you don’t know what to send or how to appropriately recognize an event, consider a donation to the Museum’s new Woolley Fund.

The Fund will be used for display and exhibit furnishings for the new Museum headquarters. A gift that will enable professional quality exhibits for years to come in the Township of Ocean Historical Museum.

Two hundred members and friends of the Museum gathered on September 12 th at the Deal Golf and Country Club to celebrate our 20 th anniversary. Our founding members and leaders were recognized on this special occasion. Special guest of honor, Senator Joseph A. Palaia, surprised and thrilled those present when he announced a second $100,000 from the legislature for the restoration of the Woolley House. We sincerely thank him for his effort and ongoing support.

Financially, the dinner raised approximately $10,000.00 for the Woolley House restoration.

For donations to the tax deductible fund a card will be sent to the honoree or family, acknowledging the gift in their name from you. The Chairman of this committee is Barbara Thompson. Also keep in mind our Buy a Brick Campaign. This is another great way to honor or memorialize your family members or friends and at the same time to become a part of our local history. Any name or names of your choice will be permanently inscribed on 4” x 8” bricks to be installed on a walkway at the new site of the Eden Woolley House. Bricks are $100.00 each and tax deductible. Call the Museum for a brick form.
