Though this year’s election lacks the national fanfare of the 2020 presidential election, voting in local elections matters a great deak. Even small increases in neighborhood voter participation in an “off” year can transform the political landscape immediately and also set the tone for statewide and national elections in 2022. It is through this lens the North Central News presents the choices its readers will have before them for town selectmen and boards of education on Nov. 2. East Windsor This town will no doubt be among the least impacted in the region, with no newcomers on its Board of Selectmen, as voters will choose three selectmen from among four candidates – all incumbents.
Alan Marie Sarah Baker DeSousa Muska Those on the ballot for selectman are Democrats Alan Baker and Marie DeSousa and Republicans Charles Nordell and Sarah Muska. First Selectman Jason Bowsza’s term Charles will not expire until Nordell November 2023. Two vacancies on the Board of Education will be filled when voters select four of six candidates. The candidates are Democrats Noreen Farmer and incumbents David Swain and Kate Carey-Trull, along with Republican incumbents Heather Spencer and Frances Neill.
