STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Meet……..

Adam Gardner who is a current Level 4 Contact Centre student at our Waikato Campus.

Q: Where are you working?

A: I’ve just landed a CSR & Telesales role with Philips Search & Rescue in Hamilton.

Q: How did you get the job?

A: The NZMA Careers team arranged a class visit with Student Job Search. I spoke to an ambassador, who happened to be an ex-NZMA student (Lance Uerata) and he signed me up with Student Job Search and then I applied for the position via the Student Job Search website.

Within a couple of days I had a telephonic interview, then a face-toface interview and not long after that I got the job!

Q: What has been the best part of studying with NZMA? A: Being able to put a qualification behind my name— that is an AWESOME feeling!

Q: What advice would give to those rising through the ranks of NZMA? A: No matter how many times you get rejected—don’t give up!!

TO OUR NEPALESE STUDENTS - WE STAND WITH YOU!!

On the 29th of April, our students from Nepal organised a prayer service to remember the victims of Saturday’s earthquake and to ask for support for their homeland.

NZMA’s whanau includes 18 Nepalese students, who are studying with us at Sylvia Park.

It is in times of crisis that you need your family the most, and we’d like to ask you to show your support by donating to the Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Appeal, which is the students’ charity of choice.

You can donate online or contribute to the collection boxes on campus, and we’ll keep you updated with ways that you can help over the next few days.

WHANAU EVENING We had another amazing Whanau Evening at our Auckland South campus recently. Thank you to everyone who attended, and to our staff and friends who worked so hard to make this such a great event!

CELEBRATING ANZAC

Our Auckland South Retail students have put together a beautiful ANZAC window display to commemorate the 100 year anniversary

Our NZMA Careers team have been working with New Zealand Career College, sharing the love with a series of their famous CV workshops.

Our guest speaker Letelemalanuola Tuitofa MoePenn shared her experiences of being a registered teacher and centre manager with our Level 3 students at our Mankau campus.

Her words of advice: 'don't give up!’

This week we supported our awesome Level 3 Hospitality students who delivered their first service in their pop up restaurant named, Faye’s Restaurant.

We were served a wonderful main dish of Nachos, followed by a choice of two awesome desserts (Leilani had a mint choc chip cheesecake-yummy) and had choices of either a Sky High or Mango mocktails which were very refreshing. Well done to Hope, their amazing tutor and the Level 3 Hospitality class for doing so well and giving their best!

GRADUATION CEREMONY We hosted a graduation ceremony on Thursday the 17th of April at our Sylvia Park campus.

Congratulations to all our students who are graduating - we're really proud of what you have achieved and we wish you all the best for your future, whether you're starting your new career or continuing on with study.

Dessert Obsession Tutor Ganesh’s Level 5 Cookery students have excelled in their dessert assessment. They needed to plan, create and plate a selection of desserts in order to pass their assessment.

They proudly displayed their creations to all at SPC in the cafe this week.

Thank you to Chef Ganesh for inspiring and supporting our cookery students to succeed. Well done to all the students involved – you should be proud of all you have achieved!

St. Pierre’s Sushi Masterclass On Wednesday the 22nd of April, our cookery students were treated to a sushi masterclass with St. Pierre’s Sushi. Not only were our students shown the technique and skill of the art of sushi but were given the opportunity to create some ‘master pieces’ themselves!

WAIKATO SHOW Our lovely students did us proud at the Waikato Show during 10 – 12 April 2015. We had 31 students from YG to Diploma helping out in different areas of the show.
