DANIEL MILLS APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Garden Theatre is honored to house the William Daniel Mills Apprenticeship Program. Harold and Rosy Mills selected the Garden to launch this new apprenticeship program for young diverse artists ages 13 through 22. This generous gift and program was created to honor the memory of their beloved son Daniel Mills, who tragically passed away in 2020. The program, which launched this month, will potentially expand to other arts organizations in Central Florida. For the 2021-22 Season, the Garden accepted 30 apprentices in areas of performance, directing, design/tech, playwriting, stage management, and education. Apprentices take Garden Theatre Education masterclasses, camps, and classes at no cost, in addition to attending rehearsals, performances, and other events also at no cost. Apprentices will also be considered for paid opportunities working on Garden Theatre mainstage productions. “Theatre brought joy to Daniel’s life, and the study of theatre was his passion. He committed himself to learning techniques, styles, and ideologies. He was a true student of the trade. This program’s education and experiential learning focus is a wonderful way to honor our beautiful Daniel,” says the Mills family. The Garden would like to thank the Mills Family for entrusting us to keep Daniel’s legacy thriving in our arts community. The Garden Theatre’s apprentices will be led by Education Director Nick Bazo, Associate Artistic Director Roberta Emerson, and Artistic Director Joseph C. Walsh.

Who’s Who in The Cast KELLY WELLS (Tallulah Bankhead) Kelly is thrilled to make her Garden Theatre debut as the outrageously wicked Tallulah! She has enjoyed performing on stage and in front of the camera in Australia and the US. She has helped develop scripts for the Orange County Regional History Center in Orlando, performing at the museum and around Central Florida as several women important to local history. She recently performed in her sixth new musical in the 4th Annual Florida Festival of New Musicals (Winter Park Playhouse). Thank you to everyone at the Garden Theatre! Infinite love to Jeff and August.
DAVID ATWOOD (Danny Miller) David Atwood is delighted to be in Looped, debuting with The Garden Theatre. David is an Orlando based actor studying under Beth Marshall. Some of his past favorite stage credits include Six Degrees of Separation, El Amor Brujo, Tape, Les Liaisons Dangerous, Into the Woods, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, King Lear, and The Matchmaker. He also has been in numerous local independent films, commercials, and most recently acted in the Inclusivity Project: Unmuted Stories from Beth Marshall Presents. He is a local visual artist and has shown his artwork in local art exhibitions. He currently lives in Orlando with his fiancé Josh, has an eight year old son, Ben, and is the proud father of two sassy cats!
KAHLID ELIJAH TAPIA (Steve) Since the age of thirteen, Kahlid Elijah Tapia was known for numerous community plays. As a young adult, he became most recognized for his portrayal of “Shoeless” Joe Hardy in the musical Damn Yankees in which he received the Best Actor Award. He attended school at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke majoring in public relations and continued acting with roles in The Robber Bridegroom and HMS Pinafore. He then took his career overseas where he was cast in roles such as Aaron the Moor in Titus Andronicus, Henry Brown in David Mamet’s Race, and Shakespeare’s Othello. He is honored to be part of Garden Theatre’s production of Looped as this is his first stage production in over 5 years.

Who’s Who in The Production Team BETH MARSHALL (Director) Beth Marshall is full of joy being back home at The Garden Theatre! Her 13 year old nomadic theatre company, Beth Marshall Presents, began partnership with Garden Theatre in 2009 with the original production of the critically acclaimed L’Ange Avec Les Fleurs which received numerous touring awards across the United States and Canada. Other Garden directing credits include: The Glass Menagerie (2016), Doubt: A Parable (2015), Children of A Lesser God (2013) (Co-Directed w/Brenna Nicely & Joe Kramlinger). In addition to the aforementioned, Garden Producing credits include: Our Town (2009), Driving Miss Daisy, A Christmas Carol: The Ghost Story of Christmas (2010), The Diviners (2011), Biloxi Blues (2013), Alice Lost In Wonderland (World Premiere 2013), 33 Variations (Central Florida Premiere 2014), The Whale (Central Florida Premiere 2016), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2017), The Lieutenant of Inishmore (2018). When not working with Garden you can find Beth directing her TOP TEENS Intensive prepping the next generation of theatre-makers and consciously artistic humans, coaching acting, adjudicating thespian festivals, acting/directing/ producing on any of our fine Central FL stages with the occasional dabble in acting/producing/ casting for the screen, advocating for the arts globally or touring The Fringe Festival Circuit. Beth’s honors include: Top 5 Most Fascinating People In Orlando (Orlando Sentinel,), Among Top 14 People Making Orlando a Better Place (Orlando Weekly) Local Hero Award (Bank of America), Best Arts Advocate (Orlando Weekly), Best Producer (Daily City), Top 35 under 35 (Watermark), Best Director/New Works (BroadWay World) Lifetime Achievement Award in Theatre (John Goring Award). LARISSA FOX (Apprentice Director) Larissa is a director, writer, theatre technician and occasional performer. Her original play The American Dream won a Silver Key along with her essay and humor in the Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards in 2020. She is a senior in Montverde Academy’s theatre conservatory this year and has participated in every production since her induction as a freshman. She is over the moon she has been given the opportunity to act as Apprentice Director under Beth Marshall for Looped. She would like to thank the beautiful Mills family for their support as well as the Garden Theatre for creating this program in honor of Daniel. DENNIS NEAL (Artistic Consultant) www.dennisneal.biz TRAMAINE BERRYHILL (Scenic Designer) Tramaine Berryhill is a Miami native with 15 years of creating live experiences. His recent design work has been in the live meetings and corporate events industry. “I am looking forward to being back in the Theatre. I like to think of scenery as building playhouses out of the ideas of playwrights, directors and designers. We create a three dimensional, functional space for us to play in. A space where as we play, artists further develop and analyze the relationships, economics, injustices, happiness and pains that we experience in our communities. As an active member in my community I want to have a direct effect on the advancement of our craft, because of its power in the community.”

Who’s Who in The Production Team AMY HADLEY (Lighting Designer) Amy Hadley is an independent Lighting Designer and Production Manager who works with many of the local theaters and festivals throughout Central Florida. She has the privilege to serve as the Technical Director for The Orlando Fringe and Fusion Fest. She is very proud to have been a part of the Beth Marshall Presents team since the beginning. Her list of shows with BMP include My Illustrious Wasteland, Our Town, Driving Miss Daisy, Crimes of the Heart, A Christmas Carol, Diviners, Prop 8 On Trail, Biloxi Blues, Children of a Lesser God, 33 Variations, Alice Lost in Wonderland, Doubt, The Glass Menagerie, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Whale and The Lieutenant of Inishmore. She would like to thank her better half for life, Haui B., for his continuous support and her daughter, the sassy Miss Ella, for her unconditional love and infectious joy. FRANNE LEE (Costume Designer) First NYC play: Andre Gregory’s Alice in Wonderland, for which she received an Obie Award. Her many Broadway shows include Hal Prince’s productions of Candide and Sweeney Todd, both of which earned her Tony Awards. Franne’s TV credits include the First Five Years of SNL; she won an Emmy Award for creating the iconic looks of such characters as the Bees, the Coneheads, Emily Latella, and the Blues Brothers. Among her films are John Sayles’ Baby It’s You, Paul Simon’s One-Trick Pony, and two movies starring Al Pacino, The Local Stigmatic and Chinese Coffee. In the fall of 2008, Franne had the honor of being included in the Lincoln Center exhibition “Curtain Call: Celebrating a Century of Women Designing for Live Performance.” Her South Florida credits include The Cripple of Inishmaan and Equus (Palm Beach Dramaworks), Born Yesterday (Maltz Jupiter Theatre) and The Birds (The Garden Theatre). She is delighted to have been asked to design the costumes for Looped. Franne moved to Florida 4 years ago, and loves it! EMILY PLONSKI (Assistant to Franne Lee) Emily Plonski is a costumer whose local credits include Disney and Orlando Shakes. She received her MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. ANTHONY NARCISO (Sound Designer) Anthony Narciso is a Sound Designer and Composer based out of Orlando, FL. Anthony routinely designs for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Theatre at St. Luke’s, and Auburn University. He is also the seasonal designer for both Garden Theatre and Orlando REP. Anthony previously served as sound designer for the Texas Shakespeare Festival from 2013-2018. Recent credits include Vote? and Pete the Cat at Orlando Rep; Children of Eden and Mary Poppins at St Luke’s; Godspell, A Raisin in the Sun and Ugly Lies the Bone at Garden Theatre; and New Day Dawning at Auburn University. Anthony holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Technology from UCF and is a proud member of United Scenic Artists.

AMBER TEICHER (Scenic Artist) Amber Teicher has been a scenic artist in Orlando for the last 10 years. Her work can be seen at many theaters throughout Florida including the Orlando Repertory Theater and Orlando Shakes, as well as Universal Studios and Disney. She recently painted a mural for Atlanta Aquarium and helped work on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is her second show at the Garden and she is excited to be here.

Who’s Who in The Production Team JASON FRIEND (Carpenter) Jason Friend has been in the technical entertainment field for a combined 10 years. He received his Certificate for Entertainment Design and Technology from Valencia College in 2015. He currently works as a Freelance Technician contracted by many companies in the Central Florida area. OCEAS RODRIGUEZ (Carpenter) This is Oceas’ first show at Garden Theatre. He has a background in Film and graduated in 2020. He’s been making films since he was 14 starting at his YMCA club. In high school, he joined his school’s Theatre troupe and did a total of 13 shows from freshman year to senior year. He has a passion for building sets and working in the entertainment industry.
