Chris Bunn Eagle Scout Scouts BSA, Troop 44 Moorestown Chris has been a Scout since he was six years old. Since he joined Pack 44 as a Cub Scout, he was always enthusiastic, enjoying all the activities and adventures. After he earned his Arrow of Light and bridged to Troop 44 in the fifth grade, Chris held many roles over the years such as Quartermaster, ASPL, SPL and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, where he enjoyed mentoring the younger leaders. The talents honed in Scouts helped him during his years at Moorestown High School and while participating as team lead and Vice President in the Combustible Lemons Robotics team. Chris was able to take his Scouting skills a step further when he became a volunteer firefighter in the Moorestown Fire Department. This past year, Chris earned his Eagle Scout rank, and along the way, he grew strong bonds with fellow Scouts who have been part of his journey and will hopefully remain lifelong friends. Now enrolled in the Emergency Management program at Rowan University, the skills he learned as a Scout and volunteer firefighter help him continue to grow in his career.
“
The leadership, responsibility and service I have learned as a Scout will always serve as the trailhead for my future journeys.

ABOUT THE DISTINGUISHED CITIZENS AWARD The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes individuals whose leadership, service, and character reflect the values Scouting seeks to instill in every young person. The award is a miniature replica of The Ideal Scout; a bronze statue created in 1915 by noted sculptor and longtime Scouting supporter Dr. R. Tait McKenzie. The figure represents the qualities of an ideal Scout, including integrity, service, reverence, and a commitment to helping others. Distinguished Citizen honorees do not need to have a personal connection to Scouting. They are selected because their professional leadership, community involvement, and example embody the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Through their actions, they strengthen their communities and inspire the next generation to lead with character and purpose.

Ken Dunek
Publisher, JerseyMan & PhillyMan Magazine Former NFL & USFL Player Ken played basketball at Marengo High School in Illinois; from there he received a scholarship to Paducah (KY) Community College, where he played for two years before he accepted a full ride for basketball at Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) and played the 1977 season there. He switched to a football scholarship in 1978 as a tight end (despite having played no high school football) when the coaches noticed his large frame and speed on the court. He was then granted an extra year of eligibility for switching sports, and played both basketball and football for the MSU Tigers in 1979. Receiving interest from several NFL teams, he chose to accept a free agent offer from the Philadelphia Eagles in 1980 and was able to make the team as a rookie free agent. He was active for two regular-season games and received an NFC Championship ring when the Eagles participated in Super Bowl XV against Jim Plunkett and the Oakland Raiders. After his release by the Birds in 1981, he was briefly a member of the Baltimore Colts in 1982 and played in the Hall of Fame game against Bud Grant and the Minnesota Vikings before signing with the NY Giants later that preseason. He finished his professional football career with the two-time USFL Champion Philadelphia Stars led by Head Coach Jim Mora, and won two more rings as the team triumphed in the 1984 and 1985 seasons. Ken set a single-game receiving record for the franchise in 1985 with 11 receptions for 109 yards against Reggie White and the Memphis Showboats. Ken is currently the publisher of JerseyMan and PhillyMan Magazines and Executive Producer of Field Mouse, a feature film about his teammate with the Philadelphia Stars, Sam Mills. He is also the author of An Improbable Journey, creator of Forgotten Stars Productions, LLC, and is working on a documentary about the two-time USFL Champions, the Philadelphia/Baltimore Stars, titled Dynasty Denied. Ken Dunek is a college football analyst for ESPN and has appeared on national TV shows like Real World with Neil Cavuto on Fox News, as well as local programming on Comcast SportsNet Sports Talk Live and CBS 3 Talk Philly.
