MUSIC & MOVEMENT

Dance, wiggle, and stretch as we use music and movement to practice early literacy skills. This program is designed for children ages 2 – 5 and their caregivers. Mondays from 10:30am – 11am and 3:30pm – 4pm Milton H. Latter Memorial Library

TODDLER TIME

Read, sing, and wiggle during an interactive storytime geared towards toddlers and their caregivers, followed by a time to play with toys, sensory activities, or crafts. Wednesdays from 10:30am – 11:30am and 3:30pm – 4:30pm Algiers Regional Library

PLAYDOH CLUB

Roll, squish, flatten, and more with Play-Doh using your hands and a variety of tools and accessories. Each week will feature a new themed activity and an opportunity for free-play. Friday, August 7 from 2pm – 4pm Friday, August 21 from 2pm – 4pm Mid-City Library

BINGO: PRESCHOOL EDITION

Play a fun and interactive game of beginner’s BINGO to build early literacy skills and get ready to read. For children ages 2 – 5 and their families. Mondays in August beginning the 10th from 3:30pm – 4:30pm Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center

TEEN VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION

Interested in volunteering at the library? Volunteering for the first time in a while? Our monthly virtual orientation session shares everything you need to know.

This month’s activities include: Lil Robots at Game Day Program a robot or play a variety of board and card games at the Library.

TEEN VOLUNTEER DAY

CHESS CLUB

Beginner and experienced players are welcome at Chess Club. Each session includes instruction as needed but focuses on playing against other participants or Library staff. CATURDAY

Louisiana SPCA cats and kittens are headed to the Library. Kids and families can meet these fluffy visitors, craft toys to go back with them to the shelter, and leave with an animal themed book. Saturday, August 15 from 2pm – 3:30pm Alvar Library

ROBOTICS WORKSHOP FOR TWEENS WITH JESUIT ROBOTICS

FARM TO TABLE: A HISTORY WITH MASTER GARDENER ANNA TIMMERMAN

WITH BARCELO GARDENS

Learn English vocabulary and grammar alongside other students, in-person and free of charge.

This hands-on class will teach you all you need to know to grow plants from seed to harvest. Practice your skills by planting a seedling to take home.

Master Gardener Anna Timmerman will take listeners through a history of the movement, from its grassroots based in local farmers markets; through the modern movement of food hubs, seasonal menus, and home-based efforts to source ingredients locally.
