FOREVER FESTIVAL Quantum Studio
Singapore, often admired for its modern efficiency, showcases a surface of order and progress.Yet, underneath lies a deeper reality of cultural blending and loss of identity. Economic pursuits have led to the commercialization of traditions, reducing cultural richness into marketable experiences. This “Disneyfication” of culture prioritizes profit, pressuring local Chinatown businesses to conform to tourist expectations, diluting the true essence of Chinese heritage. The project proposes a perpetual festival aimed at reconnecting people with joy while generating substantial income, challenging the rigidity of society and offering an escape from economic pressures by proposing an instant festival city within the heart of Hong Lim Park, this shape-shifting embodies a structure that constantly evolves, seamlessly intertwining with the entire area. The festival continuously transforms, embracing various shapes and forms, primarily utilizing rotational pivot motions to guide its changes and employing inflatable structures for temporary residences. Within this vibrant setting, the festival boasts bustling marketplaces and celebratory squares where even indulgent and hedonistic lifestyles are embraced as the norm. It serves as a canvas for expression, challenging the repression and suppression evident in present-day Singapore Chinatown.

Site analysis I explored a less frequented part of Chinatown, situated towards its edges—a quieter, less lively area during the day that transformed into a bustling scene at night. The buildings here served various functions, predominantly leaning towards a business and office-oriented atmosphere. As I strolled through, a recurring theme emerged, revolving around the intriguing interplay between my perception and reality. Contrary to the stereotypical imagery of red lanterns saturating the surroundings, this particular section of Chinatown failed to evoke the typical cultural charm. I found myself disconnected, unable to pinpoint any specific emotions, leaving a noticeable void. Puzzled by this absence, I questioned why this area did not resonate with the familiar essence of Chinatown. It dawned on me that Singapore’s Chinatown is fundamentally a hub for commerce, both for its residents and businesses. The attractions, though artificial, are undeniably successful, yet they are primarily centralized. It felt like a space designed to separate you from your money. In contrast, I recalled the authenticity of chaotic, loud, and vibrant Chinatowns, reminiscent of the one in Bangkok, where the genuine spirit of bustling activity is palpable.

Inner child drawings Reflecting on my intuitive drawing, it initiated from an internal struggle—a personal battle aimed at rekindling my inner child. The drawing serves as a blend of conscious and subconscious artistic expression, simultaneously mirroring my emotions and thoughts stemming from my journey through Chinatown. Recently, I assigned meaning to this drawing. It occurred to me that my inner child was seeking something fun and festive within the vibrant streets of Chinatown. The moment I infused colors into the artwork, a vivid reminder of Chinese festivals instantly surfaced.

NAI-SOI MARKET Market-ecture
In order to preserve the disappearing street food and street vendors this project aims to reorganize and reallocate how street food is sold. Intending to be the new destination for food enthusiasts, bringing together countless varieties of Thai food and more, with 75 selected stalls and rotating street vendors packed in Bangkok’s city centre. First, the customers will encounter the SHOPHOUSE MARKET an all-day-tonight food zone where they will see steel parasite structures which are attached to the existing shophouses. The structure helps accommodate existing stalls on the ground floor and adds additional commercial space on the second floor. Also designed while considering the lifestyle of shophouse owners, hence the structure is not placed on every single shophouse. At the top of some of the shophouse blocks are spaces dedicated to additional activities such as live music to listen to while enjoying the food, outdoor cooking class, and a beverage bar during the night. Right at the end of the alley the customers will encounter the SOOD-SOI MARKET This part will be encountered at the end of the shophouse market, consisting of three floors. With the operation hour from 8 am to 5 pm as it is situated within the Tobacco Authority of Thailand gates. Things that are mainly sold here are; made-to-order food and raw ingredients for cooking. The resting and dining areas are also located on the third floor and a connecting path to the shophouse market rooftop activities. As this is an outdoor market, most sides are covered up to prevent the food from Bangkok’s heat but still allow for ventilation.

VACHE VILLE
Hello, World! Future Australia City Vache Ville portrays Australia’s potential for the future production sector which responds to the worldwide rising demand for higher quality products. Meat products like beef were chosen as they contribute greatly to our climate crisis, though not many seem to be aware of this issue. For example, it contributes to Australia’s inefficient land use and constant deforestation. Cattle farming contributes to methane emissions and major food waste problems. Livestock agriculture is the number one cause of carbon emission in the world as well. Australia’s third most exported product is meat following coal and sugar cane emphasising how this issue is directed to countries like Australia. The government are aware of this issue but still focuses more on bracing themselves from coal mine long-term impacts by embedding environmental-related rules and regulations, however, some coal mine does not obey the guidelines, such as the New Acland coal mine where they find their way around it by greenwashing their images for a positive response by the public view, yet the amount of damage they produce is no lesser than other coal mines. The most suitable site to locate this city-scale project is a coal mine; another major contributor to Australia’s environmental disaster. Vache Ville can be interpreted as a way of social cleansing, relocating some coal mine unemployed labour, speculations have shown that coal demand will decrease in the future, to this self sustain cattle farming city can make use of existing coal mines without destroying more land, along with creating more job opportunities to ease out the capital city’s dense population.

going to get auctioned off for being one of the highest quality calves or getting milked by tourists will be led by the workers. At night they are encouraged to stay and rest in the larger cattle pit towards the west to prevent disturbing resting citizens. Cattle programs like food stop, walk through shower with spa, and even a beer station are placed around the city centre as these actions are believed to increase meat marbling quality. When the time comes the cattle will be slaughtered in the production hub zone and distributed into the city, around Australia and as exports.
The New Acland coal mine covers over 5 km² of land, so I have divided it into 5 sections these 5 sections will have the same programs. There will be one main road going through all 5 sections, inspired by route 66 in the US. Coal mines all have interesting terrain and topology which plays an important role in my project eg. using coal pits as cattle pits due to their lower temperature.
