ELECTRICAL OR HVAC/R HELPER PROGRAMS

Thanks to a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, Galveston College is able to offer a new Quickstart + program designed to help people learn foundational skills in the fast-growing HVAC and electrical industries. The hybrid program runs for 8 weeks, and you will be presented with the basics of a trade, including safety procedures, proper tool usage, regulations, codes and more. This program is designed for people to learn the basics of a trade and start making money right away.

We not only offer job training, but career counseling and safety certifications with both NCCER and OSHA as well. Tuition is covered for everyone accepted into the program. However, if you are accepted into the program, you will need to purchase your own steel toe boots and personal protective clothing.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

An individual applying to the Quickstart + program must: • Be 18 years of age or older. • Present proof of age, such as driver license or birth certificate. • Be a United States citizen or certified to work in the United States. A Social Security card or original I-9 documentation is required. • If male, you must meet the Selective Service registration requirement. Most males have already registered and can print out the registration verification form by visiting: https://www.sss.gov/Home/Verification. • Must have a working computer and internet access. • Must have steel toe boots and proper PPE.
