The mission of the Gallo Center for the Arts is to enrich the quality of life in the San Joaquin Valley by providing an inspirational civic gathering place where regional, national and international cultural activities illuminate, educate and entertain. The Gallo Center for the Arts celebrates the diversity of the San Joaquin Valley by offering an array of affordable cultural opportunities designed to appeal, and be accessible, to all.
Photo: Gallo Center for the Arts, Circa 2007The Center opened in September, 2007 and consists of the 440-seat Foster Family Theater, the 1,248-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater, the Marie Damrell Gallo Grand Lobby and a plaza serving both theaters, and the Modesto Rotary Music Garden.
As a regional non-profit performing arts center, the Gallo Center for the Arts presents internationally recognized touring artists in all disciplines, and also is home to four resident companies: Central West Ballet, Modesto Performing Arts, Modesto Symphony Orchestra and Opera Modesto.
The Gallo Center for the Arts is a unique public/private partnership. Construction was funded jointly by the County of Stanislaus, which owns the facility, and contributions from more than 4,000 individuals and businesses given to a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which today operates the Center.
PATRON EVENT INFORMATION
• Ample and secure parking for Center events is located in the garage at 12th Street between H and I Streets. Parking passes are $5 cash and may be purchased when ordering tickets or at the entrance to the garage prior to performances. See GalloArts.org for a map and directions to the garage.
• Emergency exits are indicated by green exit signs located above each exit. For your safety, please check for the location of the exit nearest to your seat.
• The Gallo Center for the Arts is accessible to disabled patrons. Wheelchair seating is available in both theaters. Portable wireless listening devices are available at the “ Coat Check room at no charge. Please inform the Ticket Office of any special needs when ordering tickets.
• Food and beverages are not allowed in the theaters. (with the exception of bottled water and beverages served in theater cups.)
• Smoking is prohibited inside the building and within 20 feet of all entrances.
• Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the Gallo Center for the Arts’ house managers.
• The use of recording equipment and the taking of photographs in Gallo Center for the Arts theaters is strictly forbidden. The Gallo Center for the Arts reserves the right to confiscate any such equipment and/or require offending customers to exit the premises.
• As a courtesy to artists and to your fellow patrons, please turn off or silence any mobile device on your person. No texting, please!
• Restrooms are located on all three levels of the Center.
• Lost items will be held in the Coat Check room on the main level until the end of the performance. Thereafter, please contact Ticket Office at (209) 338-2100.
• All patrons MUST have a ticket to enter a performance regardless of age.

THE KINGSTON TRIO
All three current members, Mike Marvin, Tim Gorelangton and Buddy Woodward have intrinsic links to and experience with the original group: Mike is the adopted son of founding member Nick Reynolds, who was also his musical mentor; Tim, a close friend since boyhood, is one of the few musicians outside the Trio who has recorded with Nick Reynolds; and Buddy, who has performed with longtime Kingston Trio member George Grove. Many of their personal memories recall the iconic trio’s performances and journey as folk music made its extraordinary ascent to the pinnacle of popular culture – and the top of the music charts. They’ll perform such timeless classics “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” and “Tom Dooley.”
Mike Marvin
Taken in as part of the Reynolds family as a teenager, Mike learned his music ropes at the foot of Nick Reynolds, his late “adopted father.” With Nick’s approval, Mike was present at Trio rehearsals during the years when the Trio was the biggest act in the world. Under Nick’s tutelage, Mike learned backstage support, how Nick and the Trio picked songs, how the Trio managed their tours and many other critical insights. Mike was a member of the Trio’s inner circle and with the opportunity to expand his musical horizons, learned from the Trio’s manager Frank Werber everything from booking an act to conducting an orderly rehearsal to running a complicated business in an orderly fashion.
After years of touring as a folksinger with band mate Tim Gorelangton, Mike branched into movies. Mike pioneered the editing of ski films, including the seminal 1972

90-minute ski movie Earth Rider featuring the legendary ski-parachute jump off Yosemite’s El Capitan. This was the birth of extreme skiing in America. It was also the first time music was edited and inserted, note for note, as a driving force in cinematic imagery as Mike implemented the music of John Stewart, Leo Kottke, and The Kingston Trio in Earth Rider and three subsequent feature films. Mike is also an author, artist and architectural designer. Today Mike shares his time between Los Angeles and the southern Oregon coast as he, besides singing and performing with the Kingston Trio, fulfills his official role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Trio.
In the Kingston Trio, Mike plays a Martin D-28 guitar and Deering Plectrum Banjo. His voice is best described as “Patron Tequila Baritone.” He has been playing and performing for over 50 years. Mike is native of Lake Tahoe and Tahoe City and fourth generation Californian.
Tim Gorelangton
Like Bob Shane and Dave Guard, Tim was born in Hawaii. Dad was an Air Force pilot and the family lived all over the United States. Ask Tim and he’ll tell you, “This whole country is my home town!
Tim started playing woodwinds in high school and ended up serving in US Army Headquarters bands in San Francisco and Stuttgart, Germany. Music was in his family heritage. His father was from Honolulu and was a terrific ukulele player. Mom was a California girl who was prone to bursting into song around the house.
Tim has played in folk and bluegrass groups in Northern California and Nevada for years. A seasoned singer/ songwriter, he wrote “Colorado Sun,” which climbed to number 11 in the regional western US.
His heroes include, Pete Seeger, John Stewart and Tom Paxton. Tim is one of the very few musicians outside the Kingston Trio that Nick Reynolds ever recorded with.
Tim’s main goal is to ensure that the group’s music remains true to its original intentions. He’s the Trio’s Chief Musical Director, arranger, and cat wrangler.
Tim plays the Martin J40 6 String, Vega Pete Seeger Longneck Banjo, and the Guild F512 12 String.
Buddy Woodward
Americana music veteran BUDDY WOODWARD is no stranger to The Kingston Trio—his “folk cred” was born into him. Buddy’s parents met in 1959 when the senior Mr. Woodward auditioned for his mother’s folk group, The Mark III Trio. The rest was history…..“Dad stopped ‘Worried Man’ in the middle of the song at one of their gigs to propose to her onstage…much to the annoyance of her boyfriend, the banjo player!”
At the age of 5, Buddy’s mother taught him the baritone ukulele, after which he commandeered his parents’ Kingston Trio records and an AM radio, and “…got to work.” Not only a lifelong fan, but also a longtime friend of the Kingston Trio, Buddy was invited in 2002 to perform at their World Folk Music Association’s 45th Anniversary Tribute at the esteemed Birchmere in Alexandria, VA, along with John Stewart, the Limeliters, and the Brothers Four.
An award-winning songwriter, singer, and multiinstrumentalist, with Top 10 hits on Bluegrass and Americana radio, Buddy is also a producer, music director, side man, and studio musician, with over 40 years of experience as a touring and recording professional.

whiz-kids THE GHOST ROCKETS, NYC-based honkytonkers BUDDY WOODWARD & THE NITRO EXPRESS, and was a featured performer in the long-running New York Alphabet City Opry. He has performed and/or recorded with luminaries such as Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Laura Cantrell, Hayes Carll, Jim Lauderdale, The Washington Squares, Eric Brace & Peter Cooper, The Coal Porters, The Know Escape, James Reams & the Barnstormers, Pete Mancini, Smalltown Parade, and The Nymphs.
In 2003 Buddy co-founded and led THE DIXIE BEELINERS to both national and international acclaim. With top ten hits in both domestic and international radio, the Bee-Liners’ unique sound combined bluegrass and oldtime mountain music with folk-rock, blues and Power Pop. They released two hit albums (RIPE and Susanville) on Pinecastle Records, and played hundreds of gigs for thousands of fans worldwide in such places as the famed Merlefest in North Carolina and Fairport Convention’s Cropredy music festival in Oxfordshire, England.
As a proud member of Actor’s Equity, Buddy has appeared in both television and stage productions.
In retrospect, Buddy now sees that he has been preparing his entire life to take on this amazing challenge as a bona fide member of The Kingston Trio.
One hopes that Nick, Dave, Bob and John would have approved.
THE LIMELITERS
For 60 years the Limeliters have entertained standing room only crowds with their incredible vocal harmonies
and zany sense of humor. They first made their mark in folk clubs and on college campuses during the height of the folk music boom of the early 60’s. Before long, founding members Alex Hassilev, Lou Gottlieb and Glenn Yarbrough emerged as one of the dominant voices of the early 1960’s folk music scene. A string of best selling albums for RCA Records and frequent appearances on dozens of major TV shows quickly made them a household name. For three years they were the musical representatives for Coca-Cola, and their rendition of the jingle “Things Go Better with Coke” became a national hit. Time Magazine summed up their appeal with the following memorable quote: “If the button down scrubbed looking Kingston Trio are the undergraduates of bigtime folk singing, The Limeliters are the faculty.”
Over the years, the lineup of the group has featured several spectacularlytalented new members, but The Limeliters have never deviated from theintegrity of the fabulous sound that they pioneered and they are still one of the most exciting and entertaining vocal acts touring the country.
ANDY CORWIN
At this point, Andy is the veteran of the group — and the only member to have performed with original Limeliters
Alex Hassilev and Glenn Yarbrough. A native New Yorker, Andy first came on to the folk scene in the early 1990s as the long haired, scraggly bass player of The Foremen, a Los Angeles based, folk music /comedy quartet, best remembered for clever and literate political satire. As a solo singer-songwriter, Andy has performed throughout The U.S. --- and his off-beat comedy songs have been awarded top honors at several folk festivals. He is also an accomplished documentary filmmaker and television editor whose work has appeared on PBS, The History
Channel, A&E, Nat Geo, Discovery Networks and HGTV, to name but a few. Since joining The Limeliters, in 2004, he has been holding forth as the group’s spokesman and “middle voice.”
STEVE BROOKS
Cross two famous guys named Brooks – Garth and Mel – and you get Austin singer-songwriter Steve Brooks. A classic Texas troubadour who mixes storytelling, humor, heartbreak and cracker-barrel philosophy, his songs have been recorded by more than a dozen Americana artists, like Slaid Cleaves, Christine Albert and Russell Crowe. He wrote a song-a-week for Jim Hightower’s nationallysyndicated radio show and appeared on TV’s “I’ve Got a Secret” as six-time World Pun Champion. Writes Stave Magazine, “He is simply the most clever man you’ll hear with a guitar.”
DANIEL BOLING
Balladeer/songwriter C. Daniel Boling is a past winner of the prestigious Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk songwriter contest and other songwriting honors including the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, Walnut Valley Festival, Santa Fe Bluegrass and Old Time Festival and more. A Park Ranger and Criminal Investigator in National Parks and Public Lands throughout the western U.S.A. for 30 years, since 2008 he has toured coast-to-coast and overseas in over one hundred shows a year in house concerts, listening rooms, theatres and festivals. Daniel grew up on traditional folk music and the folk songs of the 60s. He is a Berkalin Records recording artist and has released eight solo albums since 1999. Dutch music magazine Real Roots Café says of Daniel, “Think of a subtle intertwining of Steve Goodman, John Prine and Tom Paxton.”
