GENERAL INFORMATION

The mission of the Gallo Center for the Arts is to enrich the quality of life in the San Joaquin Valley by providing an inspirational civic gathering place where regional, national and international cultural activities illuminate, educate and entertain. The Gallo Center for the Arts celebrates the diversity of the San Joaquin Valley by offering an array of affordable cultural opportunities designed to appeal, and be accessible, to all.

The Center opened in September, 2007 and consists of the 440-seat Foster Family Theater, the 1,248-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater, the Marie Damrell Gallo Grand Lobby and a plaza serving both theaters, and the Modesto Rotary Music Garden.

As a regional non-profit performing arts center, the Gallo Center for the Arts presents internationally recognized touring artists in all disciplines, and also is home to four resident companies: Central West Ballet, Modesto Performing Arts, Modesto Symphony Orchestra and Opera Modesto.

The Gallo Center for the Arts is a unique public/private partnership. Construction was funded jointly by the County of Stanislaus, which owns the facility, and contributions from more than 4,000 individuals and businesses given to a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which today operates the Center.

PATRON EVENT INFORMATION

• Ample and secure parking for Center events is located in the garage at 12th Street between H and I Streets. Parking passes are $5 cash and may be purchased when ordering tickets or at the entrance to the garage prior to performances. See GalloArts.org for a map and directions to the garage.

• Emergency exits are indicated by green exit signs located above each exit. For your safety, please check for the location of the exit nearest to your seat.

• The Gallo Center for the Arts is accessible to disabled patrons. Wheelchair seating is available in both theaters. Portable wireless listening devices are available at the “ Coat Check room at no charge. Please inform the Ticket Office of any special needs when ordering tickets.

• Food and beverages are not allowed in the theaters. (with the exception of bottled water and beverages served in theater cups.)

• Smoking is prohibited inside the building and within 20 feet of all entrances.

• Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the Gallo Center for the Arts’ house managers.

• The use of recording equipment and the taking of photographs in Gallo Center for the Arts theaters is strictly forbidden. The Gallo Center for the Arts reserves the right to confiscate any such equipment and/or require offending customers to exit the premises.

• As a courtesy to artists and to your fellow patrons, please turn off or silence any mobile device on your person. No texting, please!

• Restrooms are located on all three levels of the Center.

• Lost items will be held in the Coat Check room on the main level until the end of the performance. Thereafter, please contact Ticket Office at (209) 338-2100.

• All patrons MUST have a ticket to enter a performance regardless of age.

• Out of courtesy to other patrons, the Gallo Center for the Arts requests that no infants or toddlers attend any performance.

GABY ALBO (Gloria Estefan) is a proud Mexican who went from being a shy child in a musical theatre summer camp to someone who discovered her purpose in life on stage. She is an AMDA graduate and has participated in iconic shows such as A Chorus Line, West Side Story, Cats, Mentiras, Aladdín, Broadway Rising Stars and the world premiere of On Your Feet! en Español. Gaby has sung around the world on Norwegian and Regent cruise lines and was a semifinalist on the TV competition “La Voz.” Her purpose is to touch people’s hearts with her voice. ADELA ROMERO (Consuelo) is a Venezuelan Art and Theater Specialist from the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She started as a dancer in 1978 in Danzas Venezuela and as an actor in 1983 in theater and TV, alternating with her passion for teaching. She relocated to Miami in 2005. Currently, she is writing a book about her acting and teaching approaches and beliefs. The On Your Feet! national tour is a celebration of 44 years of an uninterrupted career. ARQUÍMIDES GONZÁLEZ (Ensemble/Emilio US/ José US). This “Boricua” artist steps into the US theatre scene for the first time. He has appeared in musicals including Footloose, Grease and Rent at CBA Puerto Rico. Arquímides studied musical theatre at The School for the Performing Arts. He dedicates this tour to his two autistic nephews Khai & Kaleh.

MARIELISA LUGO (Ensemble/Dance Captain) is a Puerto Rican dancer who has trained from an early age in techniques including ballet, modern dance, jazz, and Puerto Rican folklore. She has appeared in productions

such as Mamma Mia!, Calle Luna, amongst others. One of her goals is to take a little piece of PR everywhere she goes.

DANNY SANTIAGO (Bass) is a multi-instrumentalist so thrilled to be on the road again! His recent credits include the premiere production of On Your Feet! en Español and the national tour of A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage. MANNY MARQUEZ (Percussion) A Caracas native, Manny began studying music at age four. He excels in the timbal, tumbadora, bongo, drum kit, and traditional Venezuelan instruments. Manny has collaborated with internationally renowned artists, including Eric Clapton, Camila Cabello, Paquito D’Rivera, La India, Victor Manuelle, Pedrito Martinez, and Oscar D’León. He has been nominated for both Latin and American GRAMMYs.

PEDRO CARRERO (Trombone) One of the most outstanding and recognized trombonists in Venezuela. In a 30+ year musical career, he has toured 50+ countries playing and teaching master classes. He has received five Latin GRAMMY certificates and three decorations for Art. He plays with the European Brass Ensemble, is a Master and Ambassador for the National System of Choirs and Orchestra of Venezuela, and Exclusive Artist Schagerl.

LINDA BRICEÑO (Trumpet) Two-time Latin GRAMMY award-winning producer, trumpet player, and singer songwriter, Linda Briceño (aka Ella Bric). At the 2018 Latin GRAMMYs, she won the gilded gramophone of “Producer of the Year,” becoming the first woman in the history of the awards to win in this

category.

ALEXANDER DINELARIS (Writer) was nominated for two Drama Desk Awards in 2003 for his work on the book and lyrics for the Off-Broadway hit, Zanna, Don’t!. He won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Birdman, (with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Nicolas Giacobone and Armando Bo) which also won Best Picture. His critically acclaimed play The Chaos Theories, which recently had a staged reading starring Kathleen Chalfont, Ally Sheedy, and Karen Ziemba, played to sold-out audiences, and was a top pick of the 2004 New York Fringe Festival. At the moment, he has two plays optioned for Broadway: Folding the Monster and Still Life. His newest play, Red Dog Howls, addressed the Armenian genocide. Other works include Big Kids, Adam & Evelyn, and Pathetique.

CLAY OSTWALD (Music Supervision) has spent his career as a producer, orchestrator, keyboardist and songwriter with Gloria and Emilio Estefan as Musical Director and Asst. MD of Miami Sound Machine since 1986. His contribution to On Your Feet! began when he joined the original Broadway creative team in 2014, and he has since served as the Musical Director for the USA Tour and London West End.
