GALLO CENTER JOINS WITH USERWAY TO MAKE WEBSITE MORE ACCESSIBLE & INCLUSIVE

Digital technology is a major challenge for millions of people worldwide. It’s called the “digital divide,” and it creates barriers for people with disabilities who encounter daily obstacles when using websites, apps and digital documents. Today, approximately 90% of websites are inaccessible, yet 200,000 new sites get published every day.

Enter UserWay, a company dedicated to inclusion online, with a deep commitment to accessible, usable ADA-compliant experiences for all users.

The Gallo Center is tapping into UserWay technology by placing a special widget on our website. The widget appears on the lower left-hand corner of our website when viewed on desktop and laptop computers, tablets and mobile phones. Clicking on the widget introduces the user to a host of exciting features—among them, translations from English into more than 50 other languages, easy manipulation of website font sizes, text spacing, line height, screen contrast, color saturation and much more.

Aim your cell phone camera at the QR code to watch a UserWay video about this incredible leap across the digital divide.

Late Nite Catechism made its U.S. debut 30 years ago and since then has been presented in more than 410 cities around the world. It’s an uproarious piece of theatre that takes audience members back—sometimes nostalgically, sometimes fearfully—to the children they once were. An irrepressible Sister teaches an adult catechism class to a roomful of “students” (the audience). Over the course of the play, Sister goes from benevolent instructor, rewarding the “students” for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and laminated saint cards, to authoritative drill sergeant. This is great fun!
