Idina Menzel is the Tony Award-winning, powerhouse singer, actress in film and TV, songwriter, and major Broadway star. She was among the recipients of the 2023 National Medal of Arts, the highest award given to artists and arts patrons by the federal government.
Menzel rose to fame in the popular Broadway musical Rent, and her career took off when she won a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the smash musical Wicked. Her voice can be heard as Elsa in Disney's Oscar-winning Frozen, the second highest grossing animated film of all-time. The film's song “Let It Go, ” voiced by Menzel, became an instant international phenomenon, winning the Oscar for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
During Idina Menzel’s only prior Gallo Center appearance in 2012, she was introduced backstage to Modesto’s own Lindsay Pearce, a future musical theater star whose career path was deeply influenced by Menzel. Eight years after this photo was taken, Pearce joined the Broadway cast of Wicked as one of Menzel’s successors in the role of Elphaba.

Music has taken contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and Dove Award nominee Ben Fuller’s life and made it into something he never would have dreamed. Ben grew up in Southern Vermont on his family dairy farm working alongside his father. He’d pass the time by singing classic country tunes as he witnessed first-hand the hard work and dedication it took to run a farm.
After generations of hurt in his family, Ben turned to cocaine and alcohol at a young age. Motivated to change, he moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a country singer in late 2018. A family friend invited Ben over for a meal and then to church the next morning, where he was radically transformed by the power of God. Today, Ben lives completely sober, while sharing his story of hope, redemption, and healing in Jesus’ Name through his songs.

HOW THE CENTER IS SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY’S YOUTH.
STUDENT MATINEE SERIES: A series of weekday matinee performances presented at the Gallo Center and designed to align with and support state curriculum standards.
GCA ON TOUR: Brings the wonder of live theater directly to the students, featuring locally produced touring productions created specifically for school sites.
YES COMPANY: An audition based youth theater company that produces a full length Broadway musical each summer. For students in grades 7-12.*

GALLO CENTER YOUTH ACADEMY: An after-school musical theater program for students in grades 1-8. Offered twice a year, each semester culminates in a musical production presented in the Foster Family Theater.*
YES ACADEMY: YES Academy provides year-long musical theater education for current junior high and high school students.
MASTER CLASSES & WORKSHOPS:
Available to all regional students in grades 1-12. Offering behind the scenes access to select touring productions with masterclasses, workshops, pre and post-show talkbacks and discounted performance tickets.
CREATION STATION SUMMER CAMP: A week-long musical theater camp for students in grades 1-6. Each summer takes on a new theme through which campers experience, learn and share in the performing arts culminating in a performance in the Foster Family Theater.
