As the United States of America observes its 250th anniversary this year, the Gallo Center for the Arts is honored to present the oldest and largest of the United States Army Field Band’s performing components. The 60-member Band and 29-member Chorus were founded in 1946 and 1957, respectively, and have performed in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries for audiences totaling hundreds of millions. The Field Band is the official touring musical representative of the U.S. Army. Their mission is to connect with Americans, share Army Stories and honor veterans. These active-duty soldiers perform regularly in some of the most famous concert halls in the world. The joining of these two ensembles allows them to offer unparalleled versatility of programming, ranging from orchestral masterworks and operatic arias to Sousa marches, jazz classics and Broadway musicals. Plucked out of total obscurity as a high school senior, Vicki went on to become part of the now-legendary cast of The Carol Burnett Show. Along the way Vicki created her most endearing character to date, Thelma Harper, or “Mama“ as she is better known to her fans. After the Burnett Show, Vicki went on to star in “Mama's Family,“ which consistently topped the ratings for its entire six-year run of original shows. “Mama“ has attained almost a cult status among her legions of loyal television viewers, who still enjoy her in reruns twice daily throughout most of the country.

“Purlie Victorious” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Dynamic traveling preacher Purlie Victorious Judson returns to his small Georgia town hoping to save Big Bethel, the community's church, and emancipate the cotton pickers who work on oppressive Ol' Cap'n Cotchipee's plantation. With the assistance of Lutiebelle Gussie Mae Jenkins, Purlie hopes to pry loose from Cotchipee an inheritance due his long-lost cousin and use the money to achieve his goals. Fortunately, Cotchipee's son Charlie proves to be far more fair-minded than his brutal father, saving the church from destruction with a brave act of defiance. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2026, 7 PM $32 - $68 Liebert's global success can be attributed to a myriad of things: his creative vision, his determination, and a strong sense of melody. Born in Cologne, Germany, he began playing guitar at 11. Liebert performs a mix of Spanish, Mexican and World elements, strong melodies tinged with a shade of melancholy, balanced with upbeat rhythms. He founded the first incarnation of his talented band, Luna Negra, in 1989. Liebert has since become one of the most successful instrumental artists in the world.

SANKOFA THEATRE COMPANY Founded in 2012 with support from the Gallo Center, the Central Valley’s only African American theatre company fulfills their mission to showcase Black history, life and culture through the performing and visual arts. In past seasons, GCA has been proud to co-present their productions of Lynn Nottage’s SWEAT, Arthur Miller’s DEATH OF A SALESMAN, Lorraine Hansbury’s A RAISIN IN THE SUN, and August Wilson’s THE PIANO LESSON. THE DOO WOP PROJECT
IS BACK WITH ECHOES FROM THE STREET
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2026, 5 PM $32 - $68 A Gallo Center favorite, The Doo Wop Project is returning to Modesto with a brand new show: Echoes of the Street. Starring the five engaging and charismatic Broadway stars from smash hits like Jersey Boys, A Bronx Tale, Beautiful and Motown the Musical, this exciting performance features fresh renditions of classic Doo Wop hits (remember “16 candles“ and “In the Still of the Night“?) as well as “doo-wopified“ versions of contemporary hits like Adele's “Rolling in the Deep” and Garth Brooks' “Friends in Low Places.” Of course they'll keep some fan favorites in the new show, including such memorable numbers “Remember When” and “That's My Desire.” If you've seen The Doo Wop Project before, you are in for a brand new treat. If you haven't seen them yet, you'll be treated to a fantastic evening of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.
