The devastating wild fires in Southern California earlier this year led to a postponement of actor Steve Guttenberg’s appearance at the Gallo Center for the 40th anniversary screening of his 1984 blockbuster comedy, “Police Academy.” The show, originally planned for last January, was moved to August 9.
Following the screening, Guttenberg will participate in a moderated audience Q&A led by KHOP-FM afternoon host Ian Riley. Guttenberg, who played Carey Mahoney in “Police Academy” and three of its sequels, will regale the audience about his adventures in making those riotous movies, as well as other hit films including “Three Mean and a Baby,” “Cocoon,” “The Boys from Brazil” and “Short Circuit.”

With 13 million albums sold and 18 No.1 singles, Tracy Lawrence has solidified his status as a cornerstone of country music for more than 30 years. Even as he continues to release music and tour, the Grammy-CMAACM-award winner’s ambitions have also extended to numerous media and charity projects. His radio show, “Honky Tonkin’ with Tracy Lawrence,” currently airs in more than 170 markets. His interest in working with younger artists and being able to explore different topics led to the “TL’s Road House” podcast, which has featured guests including Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson.
Lawrence’s legacy continues to evolve, as well. His commitment to helping those in need with his Mission: Possible non-profit is committed to serving the homeless across middle Tennessee and beyond. From its humble beginnings cooking Thanksgiving dinners for the Nashville Rescue Mission to frying over 10,000 turkeys to date, the organization has raised more than $1 million for those in need. In recognition of his philanthropic efforts, the Country Radio Broadcasters organization named Lawrence the recipient of the 2023 CRS Artist Humanitarian Award.

Spend a deliciously chilling evening with renowned criminologist and serial killer expert, Dr. Scott Bonn, as he takes you inside the minds of the world’s most savage and prolific murderers.
In this thrilling 90-minute show, Dr. Bonn reveals the insatiable, psychological hungers that drive the likes of Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer to kill repeatedly with impunity and no remorse. He explains why the majority of serial killers are either psychopaths or sociopaths, how the two differ, and he
reveals that every serial killer is compelled to murder by a unique fantasy need. He also explains how/why serial killers are able to successfully avoid apprehension, blend into a crowd and become invisible.
Given the subject, the content in Dr. Bonn’s show is frequently dark and can be disturbing. He incorporates some dark humor which in no way is intended to minimize the seriousness of the topic or the fact that lives have been destroyed by the diabolical killers he discusses throughout the show. Recommended for adults only.

The Gallo Center Repertory Company’s first production for 25/26 is Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaptation of Dial M for Murder, the stage play by Frederick Knott. Knott also wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 film version starring Grace Kelly, Ray Milland and Robert Cummings.
For those who know only the film, there is one significant difference with the play. But there’s no spoiler here. You’ll need to buy a ticket! There’s also a significant difference between Knott’s original and Hatcher’s
adaptation of the play that we will reveal:
The part of Margot Wendice (played by Grace Kelly in the film) is no longer a somewhat passive potential victim of her husband’s murderous intentions.
As Hatcher said in a recent interview, “In the original, Margot sits in the back. I wanted to put her in the driver’s seat.” In other words, Margot goes from passive to powerful, and the Dial M for Murder you’ll see at the Gallo Center is infused with this new focus.
