GENERAL INFORMATION The mission of the Gallo Center for the Arts is to enrich the quality of life in the San Joaquin Valley by providing an inspirational civic gathering place where regional, national and international cultural activities illuminate, educate and entertain. The Gallo Center for the Arts celebrates the diversity of the San Joaquin Valley by offering an array of affordable cultural opportunities designed to appeal, and be accessible, to all.

The Center opened in September, 2007 and consists of the 440-seat Foster Family Theater, the 1,248-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater, the Marie Damrell Gallo Grand Lobby and a plaza serving both theaters, and the Modesto Rotary Music Garden. As a regional non-profit performing arts center, the Gallo Center for the Arts presents internationally recognized touring artists in all disciplines, and also is home to four resident companies: Central West Ballet, Modesto Performing Arts, Modesto Symphony Orchestra and Opera Modesto.

The Gallo Center for the Arts is a unique public/private partnership. Construction was funded jointly by the County of Stanislaus, which owns the facility, and contributions from more than 4,000 individuals and businesses given to a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization which today operates the Center.

PATRON EVENT INFORMATION • Emergency exits are indicated by green exit signs located above each exit. For your safety, please check for the location of the exit nearest to your seat. • The Gallo Center for the Arts is accessible to disabled patrons. Wheelchair seating is available in both theaters. Portable wireless listening devices are available at the Coat Check room at no charge. Please inform the Ticket Office of any special needs when ordering tickets. • Food and beverages are not allowed in the theaters. (with the exception of bottled water and beverages served in theater cups.) • Smoking is prohibited inside the building and within 20 feet of all entrances. • Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the Gallo Center for the Arts’ house managers. • The use of recording equipment and the taking of photographs in Gallo Center for the Arts theaters is strictly forbidden. CAST BIOS Codey Court (Christopher) This is Codey ‘s first show with the Gallo Center Repertory Company. Codey played Dumaine in the Prospect Theater Project’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. He attended San Joaquin Delta College where he portrayed Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, George Gibbs in Our Town, and Benny in Epic Proportions. When Codey isn’t acting, he is with the people and animals he loves, attending ASU for business, and working at Starbucks. Codey is excited and grateful to be here and would like to thank Roberta, Clara, the cast, and crew for their talent, support, and kindness, and you for coming to see the show. Scott Kaul (Ed) is honored to be making his debut with GCRC. He returned to acting last year after a long hiatus and has since appeared as the King of Navarre in Love’s Labor’s Lost and as Trevor Neese in Rancho Mirage, both with Prospect Theater Project. When not on stage, he also currently performs with the Modesto Rainbow Chorus and hosts a pub trivia night on the first Friday of each month at Meeple Valley Board Game Cafe. Scott is grateful for the opportunity to be part of this production telling a story that resonates personally, guided by a brilliant director and populated by a cast full of humans he genuinely admires. Deanna Hudgens (Judy) is delighted to be returning to the GCRC stage in Curious Incident. A Modesto native, Deanna received a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Azusa Pacific University and proceeded to cut her teeth in the acting biz in LA. She then trekked across the country to earn an M.F.A. in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Recent stage credits include: Love’s Labor’s Lost (PTP), Boeing Boeing (GCRC), and The Lifespan of a Fact (PTP). Film/TV credits: Saturday’s Lament (short), Parked (Amazon Prime), and Fear, Love, and Agoraphobia. Deanna is thankful for the unwavering support of her family and friends. She is also grateful to you, dear patron, for supporting local live theatre. Khalia Edwards (Siobhan) is 20 years old and was born in raised here in Modesto. She attended Modesto High and was a part of the Performing Arts Academy where her love for theatre only grew. Her first show out of high school was

MJC’s Much Ado About Nothing directed by Lindsay Bryan. She continued in plays such as Eurydice and Antigone both at MJC. The Curious Incident will be her first show out of school-based theatre and she couldn’t be more thrilled to bring her talents to the Gallo Center stage! Michael Begen (Ensemble) is a graduate from San Jose State University’s well renowned Animation/Illustration program, this is Michael’s first production with GCRC. Michael recently played Lord Berowne in Prospect Theatre’s production of William Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost. He has also played Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic & Old Lace, King Sextimus in Once Upon a Mattress and has been featured at California’s Great America as Jack the Ripper during the Halloween Haunt. While in school, he played a parody version of himself for SJSU production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and has been an adamant Improviser since being a member and later Captain of the SJSU Improv Team. Michael thanks his family and friends for their love and continued support of his creative pursuits. Enjoy the show! Daisy Braley (Ensemble) is a talented young actor whose credits include Dance Ensemble in Mamma Mia! (Yes Company), Late Rabbit in Pooh Corner (MPA), Susan in Miracle on 34th Street (Prospect Theater Project), and the lead character in Magic of Belief (Valley Repertory Theatre). Her first show with GCRC was when she was just 10 years old as Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. Daisy loves to dance, play volleyball, and be with her friends and 3 sisters. When she grows up she wants to be a full-time actor. Summur Braley (Ensemble) is a commercial, film and theater actor who is thrilled to be back on stage at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Her notable theatrical roles have included Kanga in Pooh Corner (MPA), She in Stage Kiss (SCT), Miss Shields in A Christmas Story (GCRC), and 2 years of performing with GCA On Tour. Her first role with GCRC was as Miss Stephanie in To Kill a Mockingbird. In her free time she is an avid reader, loves spending time with her family and works as a special education para-educator.

Austin Jimenez (Ensemble, Christopher Understudy) is a student at MJC. He is thrilled to make his GCRC debut in this play. You may have seen him as Ali Hakim in YES Company’s production of Oklahoma! In 2024. Thank you for coming to the show! Sierrah Makenzie (Ensemble) has been in Theatre since she was 13. She graduated with a BA in Theatre Arts from Stan State in May. Sierrah has done work at Prospect Theatre Project, the Gaslight Theatre in Denair and at Stan State. This is her first production at the Gallo Center. Some of her favorite roles include Logan in The Thanksgiving Play and #00 in The Wolves. She is excited to study abroad at The Gaiety in Dublin, Ireland this summer and cannot wait to see what opportunities await her. She wants to thank her parents and her boyfriend for their support and encouragement. She wouldn’t be anywhere without their constant love and guidance! Mary Pieczarka (Ensemble) has been active in Modesto’s theater community since 1976 playing the role of Celia in Modesto Civic Theater’s As You Like It, which was performed at the Graceada Bowl. She has appeared in 24 productions for Prospect Theater Project. This is her third production with GCRC. Previous roles at the Gallo Center include Mrs. Higgins in George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion, done in collaboration with PTP, and Juror Twelve in 12 Angry Jurors. Angelina Thompson (Ensemble) is thrilled to be part of this production. She earned a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in Motion Pictures and Television. Previous credits include Holes at Gallo Center Repertory Company, Gloria: A Life at Merced College, One Valley Many Stories at Prospect Theater Project, stage manager for The Outsiders at Merced College, and recently performed with Secret Improv Society in San Francisco as one of the leading improv players. She has also directed the 1-act play “21 Days” for the artist showcase at PTP, directed and coached the Mod-Players Improv troupe in Modesto, and was the summer program director at Playhouse Merced in 2021. Angelina would like to thank her family for their continued support of her artistic pursuits and hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Camden Van Lewen (Ensemble) is a senior in high school, and is excited to be in his fourth production with Gallo Center Repertory Company. He loves working on plays, especially when he’s with friends. He has been doing theater since he was 6 years old, when he played Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol with Modesto Performing Arts. Camden is currently enrolled in classes at Central West Ballet. He also took tap dance for two years at Juline’s School of Dance. Over the past three summers, he has participated in Opera Modesto’s Summer Opera Institute, and Yes Company’s, Mamma Mia! Camden enjoys playing drums for his church worship band. He also loves sushi, steak, caramel, and cotton candy. When he grows up, his dream is to be a Broadway actor. He loves his family and can’t wait for them to see the show.

CREATIVE TEAM Roberta Inscho (Director) is a director/choreographer from Modesto, California, with a deep passion for musical theatre and Shakespeare. She has her MFA in Directing from the University of Memphis, where she recently directed The Rocky Horror Show. Last season, she directed All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 for GCRC. Roberta has been a company member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) for three seasons, including the upcoming production of Jane Eyre, as well as Twelfth Night (Associate Director/Movement Director) and Merry Wives of Windsor (F.A.I.R Assistant Director). During the pandemic, Roberta directed and produced a virtual 10-episode series of Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida with her company All the Web’s A Stage. Recent productions include Romeo and Juliet (Director; Tennessee Shakespeare), Legally Blonde (Choreographer; Occidental College), Paradise Blue (Intimacy Choreographer; Aurora Theatre), Beehive (Associate Choreographer; Center Rep), Mama Mia (Choreographer; College Prep), and Dance Nation (Intimacy Choreographer; UMass). IG @_robertaevelyn_ Clara den Dulk (Stage Manager) has been a Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager, Prop Designer, and Associate Costume Designer for several different shows, and she is happy to be stage managing for GCRC again. She graduated from Stanislaus State in 2024 and since then has worked for the college and Gallo Center on shows like Anyone Can Whistle, Maddi’s Fridge, and Mamma Mia. She is thrilled to be working on this show with such an awesome group. Dustin Venicombe (Technical Director) has been the lighting designer for GCRC since its conception; working on almost every show presented at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Known as a creative problem solver and cool dude, Dustin has been working in technical theater since the age of twelve with YES Company (1996-2002). As an active part of the local performing arts community, he has had the pleasure of working with Central West Ballet, Opera Modesto, Sankofa Theatre Company, Modesto Performing Arts, and Prospect Theater Project, as well as several Modesto area high school drama programs. Dustin brings his dedication and attention to detail to this new chapter of life and is excited to learn and hone his skills as the Technical Manager for GCRC.

Noelle Souza (Costume Designer) is delighted to be back working with her friends at GCRC! For the stage, she has recently designed Dial M for Murder, Spelling Bee, Boeing Boeing, 1984, Born Yesterday, 12 Angry Jurors, Winter Wonderettes, and Murder on the Orient Express for GCRC, Rough Crossing and Mother of the Maid for Prospect Theatre Project, and Oklahoma!, The Addams Family, Annie, YES Co’s 30th Anniversary Concert Spectacular, and Singin’ in the Rain for YES Company. For television, she has worked as the Costume Designer, Props Master, and Scenic Designer for over 40 national commercials for the brand, Grocery Outlet. Ms. Souza holds a degree from the University of San Diego and is passionate about sharing “costume magic” and storytelling through clothing. His early work at the Royal Court includes BLUEBIRD (1998); HERONS (2001), COUNTRY MUSIC (2004) and MOTORTOWN (2006). In 2008 his play HARPER REGAN opened at the National Theatre, and SEA WALL, starring Andrew Scott, played at the Bush. Simon then had success with his plays PORNOGRAPHY (Deutsches Schauspielhaus, Hanover, 2007 and Edinburgh Festival / Birmingham Rep, 2008 and Tricycle Theatre, 2009) and PUNK ROCK (Lyric Hammersmith / Manchester Royal Exchange, 2009) which won the 2009 Manchester Evening News Award for Best Production. In 2011, I AM THE WIND, an adaptation from Jon Fosse’s original, opened at the Young Vic. 2012 saw THREE KINGDOMS performed in London, Tallinn and Munich, MORNING at the Lyric Theatre, and a new version of Ibsen’s A DOLL’S HOUSE at the Young Vic which subsequently transferred to the Duke of York’s Theatre in 2013. His adaption of Mark Haddon’s novel THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME won the Oliver and Tony Awards for Best New Play (National Theatre, 2012; Apollo Theatre, 2013; Gielgud, 2014 – present; Barrymore Theatre in Broadway, 2015; international tour 2017-2018). In 2014 Simon premiered CARMEN DISRUPTION at Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, which subsequently opened at the Almeida Theatre in London in 2015, and BIRDLAND at the Royal Court. His adaptation of Chekhov’s THE CHERRY ORCHARD also opened at the Young Vic in 2014. In 2015, HEISENBERG opened at MTC in New York and transferred to the Friedman in 2016 and opened in the West End in 2017; THE FUNFAIR, Simon’s new version of Ödön von Horváth’s KASIMIR AND KAROLINE,

opened at Home Theatre in Manchester; and SONG FROM FAR AWAY, directed by award-winning Belgian director Ivo van Hove, received its UK premiere at the Young Vic. In 2016, his version of Brecht and Weill’s THE THREEPENNY OPERA opened at the National, and his original play RAGE opened at Thalia Theatre, Hamburg. 2017 saw the openings of NUCLEAR WAR at the Royal Court, his English language version of OBSESSION at the Barbican, FATHERLAND at the Royal Exchange for the Manchester International Festival, and his new adaptation of THE SEAGULL at the Lyric Hammersmith. Simon is Artistic Associate at the Lyric Theatre and Associate Playwright at the Royal Court. He was also on the board for Paines Plough between 2009 and 2014, and was a Writers’ Tutor for the Young Writers’ Programme at the Royal Court between 2001 and 2005. Mark Haddon (Author) was born in Northampton, UK, in 1962. His novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the NightTime (Jonathan Cape, David Fickling, 2003) was published in two imprints—one for children and one for adults—to immediate success. It won 17 literary prizes, including the 2003 Whitbread Book of the Year. His second novel, A Spot of Bother (Vintage), was published in 2006 and shortlisted for the 2006 Costa Novel Award. Haddon’s first book of poetry, The Talking Horse and the Sad Girl and the Village Under the Sea, was published by Picador in 2005. His first book for children, Gilbert’s Gobstopper (Hamilton, first edition), was published in 1987 and followed by other books and picture books for children, many of which he illustrated. Other works include the novels Boom! (David Fickling Books, 2009), The Red House (Vintage, 2012), The Pier Falls (Vintage, 2016), and The Porpoise (Vintage, 2019). Haddon graduated from Oxford University in 1981 and earned a Masters of Science in English literature at Edinburgh University. He then undertook a variety of jobs, including work with children and adults with mental and physical disabilities as well as work as an illustrator and a cartoonist for publications including the New Statesman, The Spectator, Private Eye, The Sunday Telegraph, and The Guardian. From 1996, he also worked on television projects and created and wrote several episodes for Microsoap, for which he won two BAFTAs and a Royal Television Society Award. Mark Haddon teaches creative writing for the Arvon Foundation and at Oxford University.
