AQUILA THEATRE’S GUIDED TOUR: PRIDE & PREJUDICE Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 9:30 am 800-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommended for grades 7-12 Aquila Theatre’s Guided Tour is a one-hour presentation specifically for schools. Key scenes from the Company’s production of Pride & Prejudice are performed with narration and explanation in-between so students can see pivotal moments while still gaining a full understanding of the play. The presentation is followed by a 10-minute Q & A.

GRACE FOR PRESIDENT Thursday, February 16, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 1200-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommended for grades 1-4 When Grace’s teacher reveals that the United States has never had a female president, Grace asks “Where are the girls?”, as her third-grade teacher rolls out a poster of all 44 U.S. presidents. In this timely story, the basics of elections, from campaigns to the complexity of the Electoral College are explained in a way that is clear and age appropriate. It’s a story within a story; Belinda lives out her version while also re-enacting the classic tale of Cinderella, using whatever objects are at her disposal.

ELLINGTON! was commissioned by and successfully premiered at the Robert Ferst Center for Performing Arts in February, 2011.
DOKTOR KABOOM! LOOK OUT! SCIENCE IS COMING! Tuesday, March 7, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 1,200-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommended for grades 4-8 The original Doktor Kaboom! show in which the good Doktor takes his audience on an educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences.

GALLO CENTER REP: OF MICE AND MEN Thursday, March 16, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 440-seat Foster Family Theater Recommended for grades 6-12 Adapted by John Steinbeck from his own brilliant novella, this is the story of two displaced migrant ranch workers who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression. Delusions of living off the “fat of the land” on a future farm of their own help sustain the two, but tragedy ultimately overtakes their dreams.
CALL OF THE WILD: ILLUSTRATED EDITION Monday, April 3, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 1,200-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommend for grades 5+ Jack London’s classic tale comes to life on stage. This production uses 180-degree projection that surrounds the performer and provides scenic, artistic, and historical context to the show through their content. The images feature a unique mix of Philip R. Goodwin’s classical illustrations from the book’s first edition, period photographs, and brand new drawings and animations created by artist Michael Rae.
DANNY CARMO’S MATHEMATICAL MYSTERIES Monday, April 17, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 1,200-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommended for grades 2-6 It’s hard to believe that Danny Carmo used to think that school and, in particular, math wasn’t for him. He was more interested in dreaming about a future on the stage and perhaps the big screen – all he ever wanted to be was a famous magician. But when he knuckled down to learn all the tricks of the trade he realized that math was not only essential… it was the SECRET to a whole load of magic.

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales deconstructs the tradition of the fairy tale. ACOUSTIC ROOSTER’S BARNYARD BOOGIE Thursday, April 27, 2023, 9:30 am & 11:30 am 1,200-seat Mary Stuart Rogers Theater Recommended for grades TK-3 New York Times best-selling author Kwame Alexander brings two of his beloved children’s books—Acoustic Rooster and Indigo Blume—to the stage in a world premiere Kennedy Center commission. This musical adaptation tells a story about being scared, being brave, and believing in yourself. Students will be dancing in their seats!

GALLO CENTER ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAMS Gallo Center Arts Education works to provide motivating performing arts experiences for the youth of the San Joaquin Valley through programming available to school partners and the community. At the Gallo Center, we believe that an arts education should be accessible, relevant and creatively inspiring. FOR SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS STUDENT MATINEE SERIES: A series of weekday matinee performances designed to align with and support state curriculum standards in all core subject areas. GCA ON TOUR: This program brings the wonder of live theater directly to the students, featuring locally produced and nationally touring productions, workshops and residencies created specifically for school sites. YES COMPANY: Youth Entertainment Stage (YES) Company is an auditionbased youth theater company that produces a full-length Broadway musical each summer. Directed and designed by local theater professionals, the cast for all YES Company productions features only students in grades 7-12.*

Academy YES ACADEMY: YES Academy provides year-long musical theater education, performance, and community engagement opportunities for current YES Company and graduating GCYA students. GALLO CENTER YOUTH ACADEMY: This is an afterschool musical theater program for students in grades 1-8. Through a unique ten-week semester, students receive both practical training and curriculum-based performing arts teaching which culminates in production presented in the Foster Family Theater.*
CREATION STATION SUMMER CAMP: Creation Station is a week-long musical theater camp for students in grades 1-6. Each summer, Creation Station takes on a new theme through which campers experience and learn about all aspects of the performing arts. BROADWAY DAY SERIES: Available to all regional students in grades 1-12, this program offers behind the scenes access to selected Gallo Center touring productions, masterclasses, and discounted show tickets with post-show talkbacks with cast members or production staff.
