‘Dawn to Dusk’ by Kristan Baggaley Paintings of the Derbyshire Peak District An exhibition of new paintings inspired by the changing light across the Derbyshire Peak District.

I wanted to heighten the expressive energy of the painting experience. In my painting there should be a sense of the feelings I have felt when I have been confronted by a particular time, area and space.

Therefore, I believe what I am trying to convey in my work is an "inscape" of the whole experience.

I have spent many years finding my inspiration for painting from the open landscape of the Dark Peak District. Saturating myself in its beautiful but raw moorlands and escarpments in all the seasons of the year. Over time the location to me, has ceased to be just a landscape but has become a complex of sensations, light, colour, smell, sounds and a tactile experience. The more I return to these familiar areas the range and difference of these sensations surprises me.
