Golf What is your favorite hole at The Gallery...and why?

We would like to hear which hole is your favorite, and why. Maybe it’s #3 on the North because that’s where you had your first hole in one. Maybe it’s #10 South because it reminds you of golf in Ireland, or maybe it’s #1 on the North because that was where you saw your son, daughter or grandchild take their first swing on your course after starting the game.

Golf Cancer Awareness Months

As we enter into Cancer Awareness Months and join the effort to fight cancer, all Troon properties will help raise awareness by flying a light blue checkered flag on every 18th green in September starting after Labor Day weekend to remind golfers about the importance of detecting prostate cancer early and pink checkered flags in October to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention screening exams.

Golf Rev Baker Air Force Am Sunday, September 15th 8am Shotgun - North Course $80 for Members including lunch The “Rev” Baker Air Force Am is being held in honor of fallen and disabled servicemen/ women and supports the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This charity golf event benefits the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides secondary educational benefits to dependents of military members that may not have received it otherwise. Due to the overwhelming number of Americans serving our nation, many of their dependents do not qualify for federal scholarships and need additional assistance to continue their education. The Folds of Honor serves to support these families and close the gap of dependents that get left behind.

Lt. Col. “Rev” Baker is the father of our Gallery Golf Shop Assistant, Vanessa. “Rev” was a United States Air Force pilot who served our country for more than 20 years. Serving in the Gulf War and continuing on as a pilot instructor, he was stationed here in Tucson at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base until his passing in 2007. The “Rev” Baker Air Force Am was created by his daughter Vanessa as a way to honor her father’s memory and not only honor America’s fallen heroes, but their families that are often left behind. The three things “Rev” loved most were golf, his family, and especially his country! Vanessa saw an opportunity to integrate these things while supporting an amazing foundation, the Folds of Honor.

Sports Club Chicken Tortilla Soup with Chipotle and Fire Roasted Tomato

Ingredients: • 3 cups chicken stock • 1 pound chicken tenders • 1 bay leaf, fresh if available • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, 1 turn of the pan • 4 slices thick, smoky center cut bacon, chopped • 1 onion, finely chopped • 4 cloves garlic, chopped • 2 chipotles in adobo, chopped, plus 2 tablespoons sauce • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed fire roasted tomatoes • Salt • 4 cups lightly crushed corn tortilla chips • 2 cups shredded fresh smoked mozzarella or smoked sharp

white Cheddar, 3/4 pound • 1 lime, cut into wedges • 1/2 red onion, chopped • Freshly chopped cilantro leaves, for garnish Directions: • Bring broth to a simmer and add chicken tenders, poach 6 to 7 minutes with a bay leaf.

• While chicken poaches, heat extra-virgin olive oil in a medium soup pot or deep skillet over medium-high heat. Add bacon and cook until crisp then remove with slotted spoon. Drain off excess fat, leaving 2 to 3 tablespoons in the pan. Add onions and garlic to the skillet and cook 5 minutes then stir in chipotles and tomatoes.

• Remove chicken from stock, dice and then add to soup. Pass stock through a strainer then add to the soup.

• Place a pile of crushed tortilla chips in the bottom of each soup bowl. Cover liberally with smoked cheese then ladle the hot soup down over the top. Serve with lime, raw onions and cilantro at table to finish the soup.
