Nine Hole Ladies League Are you ready for a change ladies!?

The Gallery Nine Hole Ladies League is moving to Wednesday mornings!

Please sign up in advance by going to the Members Only site and clicking on Events or just contact the Golf Shop directly at 520-744-4700.

During the months of June, July & August we will meet at the practice facility before 8:30am to warm up and then play at 9am.

As we work to build our group we want to remind everyone that we do not require a big commitment - if it happens that you can only play with us one Wednesday a month – that is ok, if you do not have a handicap – it is ok! We just want you to have fun, play a little golf and meet new people!

Now that we will be playing in the morning, pace of play needs to be our top priority!

We’ll talk with Kristie for pointers on saving time on the course, and know that READY GOLF! needs to be our middle name.

As a reminder, if you plan to play or practice the club will be closed on Tuesdays, so please pick up your clubs by Monday evening.

Please plan to join us afterwards with the group from the GWGA in the Gallery Restaurant for a cold drink and a bite to eat if you have time!

Welcome to The Gallery - Brian Schaffer The Gallery would like to welcome our newest addition to the Golf Professional Staff, Brain Schaffer. The vacancy was created when Chris Rulseh moved to Chicago and accepted an Assistant Professional position at Inverness Country Club.

Brian comes to The Gallery from Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, CA, which is also managed by Troon Golf. Brian was the First Assistant Golf Professional there and assisted with the management of the entire golf operation which included tournament administration, retail and golf instruction.

Originally from Potomac, MD, Brian attended and graduated from Methodist University in Fayetville, NC with a degree in Professional Golf Management. Following graduation, he moved to the Atlanta area to be a part of the team at the Golf Club of Georgia as an Assistant Golf Professional. That facility is one of the top clubs in the Southeast with 36 holes and over 600 members. It plays host to the US Collegiate Championship, the Georgia Cup. Brian was elected to the PGA of America in 2007.

My ball trickled down the left hillside and we thought it might be lost in the planting adjacent to the cart path or in the desert.

Just as we were giving up hope of finding the ball, it was spotted nestled next to a snoozing rattlesnake. Truly, throughout the process of us trying to figure out what to do, getting a ball retriever out, and whisking the ball away from the snake (thanks, Judi Lorenzen!) with the retriever, the snake never even flinched.

Fortunately, my playing partners (Frieda Gutshall, Judi Lorenzen, and Jane Huff) let me take a free drop....at a very, very safe distance from the snake!

Ties for prizes will be decided by the lowest back nine total. If still tied, it will be the lowest last six holes and so on until a clear winner is determined.

Course Usage:

The North Course will open for starting times at 12:30 following the event. The South Course is closed for aerification.

Summer Cart Program In an effort to provide a savings opportunity for our summer residents similar to that for our seasonal residents, we will now offer a Golf Car Program for the summer months. By registering for this program, you will no longer have to pay cart fees every time you use a cart…you will have unlimited use of the golf cart, plus it includes a push cart if you choose to walk.

This will run from May 1, 2014 thru October 31, 2014 and the cost is $1,150 for Family and $770 for Single.

Troon PrivĂŠ

Golf members at Troon PrivĂŠ clubs have the privilege to play at other private clubs for the host clubs cart fee rate. Also, members are entitled to bring up to three guests that will play for the host clubs accompanied rates. Each golfer can play up to (6) rounds at any given facility in one calendar year. (This benefit is limited to (3) visits for clubs in same geographic market). Rounds are subject to the host clubs advance booking policy for unaccompanied guest/reciprocal play.

Troon Summer Series We are happy to announce a Summer Troon Travel Series! We will have 4 dates this summer, where we have prearranged golf to have some fun away from The Gallery!

Sports Club Basketball Camp

Ages: 10-13: June 2nd-6th from 7:00-8:30am Ages: 14-18: June 9th-13th from 7:00-8:30am Every coach is looking for a player that can do the FAB 4.

Protect the ball; Play with quickness and intensity, play smart and finish the play with excellence!

As the camp progresses through each session, we will build on each individual skill.

Repetition will be the key to mastering each skill. Therefore each session will consist of the following, but will be specialized for each group’s skill level: • Warm-up • Ball-handling • Individual Offense • Shooting • Defense • Team Offense- depending on the skill level Coach Jonathan Alexander has coached and directed basketball camps for 9 years with NBC Camps in several states and abroad. Jonathan uses the NBC Camps (largest and most popular overnight basketball program in the world) curriculum to teach the fundamentals of basketball. He specializes in shooting, 1-on-1 attack moves, and defense.

Jonathan is one of the master teachers for the elite NBC Camp- CIC College Prep Camp.

Participants must register by Friday, May 30th. Space is limited.
