Ephorbia Rigida (Gopher Plant)

Native to the Mediterranean region (southern Europe to southwest Asia) above 3,000 feet. It is a shrubby, evergreen, perennial spurge that typically grows in a clump to 2’ tall and 3’ wide on upright ascending stems. Fleshy, succulent-like, pointed-at-the-tip, lanceolate, steely bluegreen leaves (to 1 1/2’ long) are arranged in close spirals around the stems. Non-showy greenish true flowers are subtended by showy chartreuse-yellow bracts. Flowers bloom in domed heads at the stem tips in spring (AprilJune). When cut or bruised, the stems exude a milky sap which may be irritating to the skin and eyes (wear gloves when working with this plant). Foliage acquires interesting red to bronze tones in fall.

Play Away As a reminder, Play Away is our season-long contest for 2014-15. We will award three Stay and Play packages at the Ocean Edge Resort on Cape Cod to the winners of PLAY AWAY. The winners will earn points through participation and early sign-ups. The award packages will include accommodations and 2 days of golf for two people. (Airfare is not included.) The package may be used at any time, subject to availability at Ocean Edge Resort. If any winner is unable to use the package, they may pass along to a family member or friend for their use. This contest is only available to members of the GWGA during the GWGA season, November 5-April 18.

Junior Spring Basketball Academy Protect the ball; Play with quickness and intensity, play smart and finish the play with excellence! Every coach is looking for a player that can do the FAB 4 Basketball Academy Spring Session is where players can begin to elevate their skills heading into summer and next season. The skill training, correction, conditioning, and competition will give you the edge for your off-season work.

Increase your confidence and have fun!

Upon completion of the Spring Session, each participant will receive a personal basketball workout plan.

March 10th-April 2nd Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00pm-5:00pm Ages: 10-13 years old Cost: $100 for 8 sessions Tuesday & Thursday from 5:00pm-6:30pm Ages: 14-18 years old Cost: $150 for 8 sessions.

Coach Jonathan Alexander has coached and directed basketball camps for 10 years with NBC Camps in several states and abroad. Jonathan uses the NBC Camps (largest and most popular overnight basketball program in the world) curriculum to teach the fundamentals of basketball. He specializes in shooting, 1on-1 attack moves, and defense.

She has taught private and semi-private lessons to both swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages. She has also coached a high school team here in Tucson for 12 years. Some of the athletes she has worked with have gone on to compete at the college level. When she is not instructing swimmers, she competes in both open water events as well as US Masters Swimming.

Member Ironman Challenge Overview Challenge yourself to complete an entire Ironman Triathlon in four weeks.

Ironman Breakdown Swim: 2.4 miles (167 lengths in our pool) Stationary Bike or Recumbent Bike: 112.0 miles Run or Walk: 26.2 miles Rules and Regulations 1. Challenge begins on March 2nd and runs through March 28th.

2. Sign up at the Sports Club Front Desk.

3. Participants will compete individually.

4. There is NO limit to the amount of activity that one does throughout the day.

5. Log your miles on the LFConnect website or app. Please see Jonathan if you have any questions about the website.
