Urban Spectrum: Variations invites viewers into a contemplative realm where architecture and abstraction converge. 2. Artist Introduction | Miguel Angel Iglesias
Miguel Angel Iglesias is a renowned Spanish painter celebrated for his evocative abstract compositions that blend vibrant color, dynamic texture, and an intuitive sense of movement. Born in Catalonia in 1968, Iglesias draws deeply from the light and landscapes of his native Spain— transforming natural and emotional impressions into painterly meditations.
He received his formal training at the University of Barcelona, where he developed the foundations of his unique artistic language—one that merges gestural abstraction with organic structure, navigating the delicate tension between chaos and harmony. Iglesias approaches the canvas not only as a site for visual experimentation, but as a space for philosophical reflection, often evoking spatial memory, atmospheric depth, and emotional resonance.
Throughout his career, Iglesias has exhibited widely across Europe and Asia, with solo shows including Dialogo entre Paisajes at N2 Gallery in Barcelona and a major showcase at Gallery Yeh in Seoul. His works have also been featured at internationally renowned fairs such as the London Art Fair, PAN Amsterdam, the Modern Art Fair in Paris, KIAF in Seoul, and Art Miami, connecting his practice with collectors and audiences around the globe. Iglesias’ paintings are included in several prestigious public and private collections, including the Coleccion Testimonis (Fundacio La Caixa), Fundacion Fran Daurer, Fundacion Vila Casas, and Fundacion Francisco Godia. In 2025, his solo exhibition in New York with Gallery Chang marks a significant milestone in his international career—offering new large-scale works that continue his deep exploration of light, texture, and the transformative potential of abstraction. He currently lives and works in Spain, continuing to expand the language of contemporary abstraction through his intuitive, multilayered process.
