Jun 18 - Jul 14, 2026 | Gallery Chang, NewYork
Gallery Chang is pleased to present Structure & Texture, a group exhibition featuring works by Steven Seinberg, Mark Acetelli, Bret Price, Moon Insoo, and ANON. On view from June 18 through July 14, 2026, the exhibition examines how structure and texture shape bodily perception, emotional tension, and spatial experience.
Rather than treating surface as a purely visual condition, Structure & Texture considers texture as something physically encountered. Certain surfaces slow perception, drawing the viewer into a state of quiet attention, while others generate pressure, resistance, or instability Across painting, sculpture, and textile-based works, the exhibition explores how density, repetition, material weight, and layered surfaces regulate the viewer’s movement through space
Throughout the exhibition, a tension unfolds between holding and release. Some works create suspended atmospheres where time appears slowed and perception softened. Others compress space through weight, force, and structural pressure Together, the works investigate how material surfaces can simultaneously stabilize and unsettle our perception.
Steven Seinberg develops luminous, atmospheric paintings in which color and light unfold gradually over time Rooted in gestural abstraction yet deeply connected to sensory and emotional experience, his works invite prolonged looking rather than immediate resolution. Diffused fields of color create meditative spaces where tension remains suspended within softness and light.
Through layering and erasure, Mark Acetelli creates surfaces that exist between presence and disappearance His paintings operate within subtle thresholds between image and dissolution, material and immaterial experience Emptiness becomes an active condition rather than absence, allowing silence, reduction, and restraint to carry emotional intensity.
ANON constructs works from dyed and layered fabric that are cut, stitched, and reassembled into fragmented surfaces Rejecting illusionistic space, the works emphasize material presence and tactile structure Softness and fragmentation coexist with control and precision, producing surfaces that feel simultaneously fragile and resistant.
Bret Price approaches tension through physically bent steel sculptures formed through heat and force. His works retain the memory of pressure within their structure, transforming industrial material into unstable, energetic forms that appear caught between balance and collapse The surrounding space responds to their presence, activating a heightened awareness of gravity and resistance
Using industrial materials such as cement and steel, Moon Insoo constructs surfaces through repetition and accumulation. His practice explores time, compression, and material decay, where layered textures become records of endurance and gradual transformation. Structure and surface merge into one condition, carrying both physical density and psychological weight.
Across these practices, structure and texture remain fluid rather than fixed categories Structure stabilizes but can also compress Texture activates but can also dissolve Moving between tension and stillness, the exhibition invites viewers to experience the surface as something felt over time, through movement and perception rather than vision alone.

His palette, bold gestural strokes, and poetic line work connect the external world to a sense of continuous motion, where change is constant and loss is inevitable Seinberg draws ongoing inspiration from biological perception, environmental conditions, and the emotional responses they evoke
His paintings communicate in a quiet yet evocative manner subtle, instinctive, and deeply intuitive Guided by moment-to-moment intuition throughout the creative process, the elements within his work emerge and recede almost imperceptibly, dissolving into the painted surface as the composition unfolds
Through this process, Seinberg poetically conveys the powerful, often primordial forces that govern the rhythms of the organic universe His works translate these forces into atmospheric images that resonate beyond the visual, nurturing the mind, heart, and soul

Mark Acetelli is an American painter celebrated for his evocative abstract works that explore the complexities of human emotions and experiences. Born in Detroit and influenced by his artist mother, Acetelli was introduced to art at an early age. His creative path spans multiple disciplines, including music, photography, and painting, all of which inform his richly textured and emotionally resonant style.
Acetelli’s paintings delve into themes of love, loss, transformation, and the human condition He uses oil paint and encaustic techniques to create deeply layered surfaces, applying and removing materials in a meticulous process Brushes, palette knives, cloth, and even his hands are tools in crafting these textured works, which invite viewers to engage emotionally rather than focus on defined imagery His aim is to evoke feelings and introspection, allowing each viewer to connect personally with his art
Acetelli’s work is widely collected, with pieces featured in private and corporate collections worldwide In 2023, he held the acclaimed solo exhibition Surface of a Dream at Artplex Gallery in Los Angeles In 2024, he showcased his work at Wonzimer Gallery, further solidifying his reputation as a leading voice in contemporary abstraction
As of 2025, Acetelli continues to push the boundaries of abstract painting, creating new works that merge material and spiritual realms His art resonates with audiences globally, offering a profound exploration of the human spirit through texture, color, and emotion

Bret Price is a contemporary sculptor of monumental steel Throughout his career, Price has been interested in the challenges of raw material against the forces of nature, first beginning his explorations in clay and gradually working up in size and complexity to reach heights of 35 feet and weighing up to 7 5 tons Whether the work is large or small, Bret’s focus is to convey an unexpected sense of movement and balance
Price has been collected into public and private collections throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, notably the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Pepsico Collection in New York
Bret Price lives and works in Orange County California and spends part of the year working out of a sprawling sculpture farm in New Bremen, Ohio. He is a past board member of the Mid South Sculpture Alliance. He has been invited as a lecturer and guest artist at a number of colleges and universities around the country.

Moon Insoo is a celebrated South Korean sculptor and painter, renowned for his pioneering use of industrial materials such as cement and steel to create large-scale works that challenge conventional boundaries between sculpture and painting. Born in Korea in 1955, Moon graduated from Hongik University with a degree in Sculpture and later completed his graduate studies at the same institution. Emerging in the 1990s as a leading figure in contemporary Korean art, Moon’s innovative approach to material and form gained both national and international recognition
Moon’s works are characterized by their monumental scale, raw textures, and integration of industrial materials His cement paintings, a hallmark of his practice, merge the physicality of sculpture with the flat surfaces of painting, creating a dynamic interplay of texture, weight, and light Through his use of oxidized steel and weathered cement, Moon captures the passage of time and the interplay between human-made structures and nature His philosophy reflects a deep engagement with the contrasts of modern society industrial and organic, permanent and ephemeral
One of Moon’s most iconic works, Barrier, was installed at the Seoul Arts Center Sculpture Park in 1993 This massive structure of steel and cement is a powerful meditation on division and connection, both physical and symbolic The work’s weathering over time has added layers of meaning, drawing comparisons to Richard Serra’s Tilted Arc for its bold presence and ability to provoke discussion among viewers
