Gallery Byzantium’s designs bring the opulence of the past to the present. Over the past decade, Gallery Byzantium has gained international recognition for its commitment to these ancient artistic traditions and now boasts customers from around the world including the esteemed National Gallery in Washington, DC and The Getty Museum in Los Angeles, CA. Gallery Byzantium was also recently featured in NorthShore Magazine (December 2017), Vogue (July 2017), and W Magazine (August 2017).

As we have seen from the runway, this season’s trends are not shy and look towards antiquity for inspiration. As the finest garments and jewelry were reserved for not only the aristocracy and royalty, but for the clergy as well, sacred style has influenced designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, and Gucci. The 2018 MET Gala also looks towards a sacred inspiration with their Fashion and Religion theme.

Our faithfulness to tradition surpasses simply a dedication to the Byzantine aesthetic. Gallery Byzantium started as a solution to a glaring problem: throughout his travels of the Middle East, Asia, Istanbul, and Greece, founder Fr. Spiridon Schneider was unable to find jewelry produced in the Byzantine aesthetic. He was resolved to establish Gallery Byzantium as a way to celebrate the Eastern European and Middle Eastern heritage and pass on its aesthetic to future generations.

AS ROYAL BLOODLINES FLOWED THROUGH GENERATIONS, GALLERY BYZANTIUM HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE FAMILY TREE . . .

In keeping with this sense of familial lineage, Gallery Byzantium has been passed down to his daughter, Seraphima, and her husband, Brian, who have utilized their artistic talents, keen eye for design, and vast knowledge of art history to carry on this tradition.

PEACOCK BIRDS OF PARADISE Ancients believed the peacock was incapable of rot and decay; therefore it became a symbol of immortality and eternal life or Paradise (it was even believed that a pair of peacocks guarded the Gates of Paradise). Renewal and resurrection also became associated with peacocks as male peacocks shed and regrow their plumage each spring.
