Editor’s Notes There’s nothing like a first impression. Of course the beauty and yet tantalizing fear of this is that it can work both ways and be either positive or negative, but as I sat back and thought about the perfect introduction for this publication, it was no easy task.

In truth, Gallant is designed to be an extension of my blog posts and Flickr stream, and my original intent was to label it a “blogazine”.

As a blogger for some pretty impressive creators for almost seven years, each month I strive to represent their brands well. But this venture boils down to more than that. It is not about meeting blogger requirements or being told what to feature and when. It’s about the art - the exhilaration of finding ways to express yourself and to create: to literally have a vision and have it come to life in a virtual world, which by the way, simultaneously satisfies some pretty intense aspirations in real life as well.

Gallant is the culmination of my creative efforts. When I first had the idea, I dismissed it pretty quickly. While I hungered for something all-new and all-different in my Second Life, I was not sure if I could make it happen artistically or even from a time perspective. It’s at this point where a few pretty incredible friends entered the fray. First and fore-

most, my deepest gratitude goes to Apple Fall. No introductions are necessary for this

one. However, while he hosts one of the most brilliant and artistic minds in SL, what you might not know about Apple is that he is also one of the most generous and helpful people I have met in either world. He’s also one heck of a sounding board and I have treasured his friendship over the past few years. His encouragement is what brought Gallant to life.

Another shout out goes to Gac Akina. This Stray Dog own-

er and his constant cheering helped keep me going when I was feeling overwhelmed and needed direction. His talent graces the opposite page and more throughout this magazine.

While I met him only a year ago, I cannot imagine my SL without his friendship.

All this brings me to the matter at hand: the premiere issue of Gallant! I am so energized to share this with you!

This issue gives you an in-

side look at my home in Second Life in the “Southern Living” feature, which includes a brand new kitchen from the aforementioned Apple Fall (to be released soon). I also partnered with a few friends to celebrate St. Patrick’s day and to showcase a number of the incredible skins and shapes for male heads, so you’re in luck. Spring is making a grand entrance early around these parts this year, so I wanted to capture this colorful season in my “Jardin de Printemps” spread. And before I closed things out with a few of my blog posts featuring a number of special events and creators, my friend Wayne jumped in to spotlight his incredible talent in his lifestyle special feature.

While I know the focus of Gallant will be to feature men’s fashion and home decor in each issue, the beautiful part of creating this publication is I can make it whatever I want and release whenever I want. This issue is simply an appetizer. I am excited to hear your feedback, and I am encouraged by the expressed interest from a number of talented individuals who want to be involved in future Gallant releases.
