With one-on-one engagement as our cornerstone, our intake and serve process mirrors our commitment to individual assessment and measured growth. Our Veteran Self-Training and Response-Ability (VetSTAR) Program increases a participant’s functional fitness in five domains: emotional, physical, spiritual, professional, and social. Service members and veterans will successfully and purposefully transition and reintegrate into their communities through functional fitness support.
GallantFew provides one-on-one transition assistance and veteran support to any service member or veteran seeking guidance along their transition from the military and reintegration into American society.
The ultimate objective: a life full of hope and purpose.
Our objective is to be America’s premier one-on-one military transition and reintegration nonprofit enhancing service members’ and veterans’ experience with the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program and Veteran Affairs Administration.
No-cost transition and reintegration services that foster a successful migration to civilian life of hope and purpose post-service.
Engagement, advocacy in local communities, and fundraising in support of connecting to America's military community
Advocacy and awareness of gap areas, growth opportunities, and sustainment of existing programs. Mission Support Partnership with fellow nongovernmental organizations
For over twelve years, GallantFew has provided an alternative to transition and reintegration that focuses on a veteran’s abilities, not their disabilities. The “system” tells a veteran they are 100% disabled and expects nothing from them. GallantFew believes every veteran continues to have the ability to contribute in a positive manner to their families and to their communities. VetSTAR coaching is geared at identifying the negative self-talk that limits one’s ability to move towards their objectives and puts in place an intentional pathway to achieve those objectives.
It begins with the GallantFew Azimuth Check™, a holistic self-assessment that identifies where a person is emotionally, physically, spiritually, professionally, and socially. We encourage anyone, not just veterans, to take the assessment and use the online resources to improve their levels of fitness. Veterans receive the opportunity to have one-on-one mentoring or counseling with a GallantFew staff member. We encourage people to retake the GallantFew Azimuth Check™ periodically and view their progress on the VetSTAR™ portal.
We challenge the VA to encourage every veteran to take the GallantFew Azimuth Check or a similar assessment annually. Use those results to refer veterans to specific resources and to monitor change over time.
To those who have supported and continue to support GallantFew financially and through volunteering, thank you. Without your support and the support of our major donors
Trillimed, Classic Chevrolet, Phantom Products, Honoring Sandrino Fund, Masco, MG+M, and more, we would not be America’s Veteran Team.
What GallantFew does works. It’s unique in that it shows outcomes and has a strong basis for organizational and personal accountability If you haven’t taken the GallantFew Azimuth Check yet, please do!
To be frank, my life was a train wreck. After working with the phenomenal team at GallantFew and utilizing some of the programs offered, my life is back on track and I am in a much better spot on my journey. Simply put, GallantFew is a life-changing, life-saving organization. I would encourage any veteran wanting help to reach out and any patriot that can, to support this organization.

The GallantFew VetSTAR Program proudly obtained a Licensed Counselor in 2022! Karl Monger, GallantFew's Executive Director, graduated from The University of North Texas with a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling. He subsequently passed the National Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Examinations and received his Licensed Professional Counselor Associate from the state of Texas.
Additionally, Karl completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) training. GallantFew can now deliver the therapeutic protocol recommended by the VA for post-traumatic stress. All of GallantFew's transition counselors are certified in the Burris Institute Subsconsious Restructuring methods, the key methodology for the VetSTAR Coaching program.
As part of the Combined Arms network, GallantFew receives referrals to provide coaching and mentoring to active duty personnel through the Department of Defense's Transition Assistance Program, expanding our reach within the active duty community. In 2022, this program connected a service member stationed in Japan to GallantFew. The reach of the Combined Arms network is vast and enables the GallantFew team to serve worldwide.
The GallantFew STAR (Self Training And Response-ability) Program is the method by which GallantFew provides one-on-one mentorship to veterans. VetSTAR encompasses mentorship in the main fitness areas of transition: emotional, spiritual, physical, professional, and social. Objectives within each fitness area are:
Emotional. A personal growth mindset with a sound emotional state.
Physical Healthy and fit lifestyle
Spiritual: A life of purpose and direction.
Professional. A fulfilling career, education, and financial growth.
Social. Integration and leadership in civilian communities.
The end state: a life full of hope and purpose.
Service members meet virtually or in person with our National Transition Director, Tony Mayne, to map a plan for their transition to civilian life Tony listens to their objectives, makes recommendations, provides resources, and creates a checklist to track tasks and stay accountable to the service member's plan.
VetSTAR Coaching is a one-onone session with a Burris
Certified Coach where a participant and coach identify and discuss behavioral patterns and how to adjust them to better suit the individual. The coach and individual check in routinely to track progress and maintain accountability.
GallantFew routinely provides recreational opportunities for individuals to gather and socialize while getting a workout in Each week, indoor rock climbing opportunities are offered free of charge to the military community. Throughout the year, special events and retreats are also hosted, centering on a physical activity with a social component.
Our three veteran service providers are certified VetSTAR coaches who provide one-on-one mentorship-style coaching to veterans and service members. During a session, the veteran identifies absolute musts in their life and the associated internal self-talk The coach helps them eliminate negative self-talk and excuses and reframe them to a positive, empowered format. Typically, coaching starts off bi-weekly and moves to monthly for maintenance.
Four days of each week, veterans across the nation gather to indoor rock climb at our partnering gyms in Texas, North Carolina, and Georgia. Climbing builds camaraderie, improves physical fitness, and builds self-confidence Improved self-confidence carries over into faith, family, and work.
Hope and purpose are intertwined with spiritual fitness, and coaches encourage veterans to replace hate and animosity with love and gratitude Spending time in nature and serving others in a meaningful way activates a spiritual experience.
Our National Transition Director meets daily with service members in the process of transitioning to civilian life. He provides connections based on the individual's objectives, makes recommendations for navigating a person's plan, and a checklist for accountability and guidance.
Each month, the GallantFew crew hosts a veteran breakfast in Dallas called the Metroport Veterans Association Breakfast. This group of veterans gathers to share stories and experiences, their lessons learned, and events or opportunities in the community. Oftentimes, civilian supporters will attend to connect with the local veteran population
Available to anyone who takes the GallantFew Azimuth Check™, the VetSTAR Portal is a personalized tool to help individuals track progress toward an objective and maintain accountability with their VetSTAR coach. The portal displays a longitudinal history of a person's Azimuth Check scores, a balance wheel to highlight areas for growth, and a list of customized resources to support the five main fitness areas. The portal data displayed here is of a veteran served by GallantFew.
You'll always have climbing buddies - this is a multiperson sport.

Rock climbing is a great workout and low impact sport.
Participation is free of charge to veterans, making it affordable for everyone.
Climbing is a mental AND physical workout.
Climbing gives veterans support beyond the gym by building a network of friends
The climbing program encourages participants to ponder how they can give back.
Climbing provides participants with a sense of fulfillment and community with their fellow veterans in the community.
"The phone call was extremely helpful, especially the conversation regarding VA benefits and all the local Ranger/Special Operations-specific support groups.
I’m already sharing this resource with all the Rangers I previously led who are getting out soon to ensure they use it. The advantage you have here [at the Ranger Outreach Center] with being local and also specifically focused on Rangers is unbeatable."
"The talk with you was extremely informative. It was very useful to talk about civilian financial concerns and how, for instance, VA disability ratings might impact life insurance down the road.
Likewise, our talk has me looking into leveraging a VA loan to buy a house further down the road once I've achieved some job security. All these pieces of information are extremely useful, and I'm glad to hear that you're communicating them to other people in Regiment earlier in their transition "
"I really appreciate the all-encompassing, eventoriented, task (bucket) list that you used throughout our conversation I want to emphasize that I felt like you cared about my transition on a personal (emotional well-being) level, which was great."
The GallantFew-sponsored Metroport Veterans Association continues hosting second Saturday breakfasts Typical attendance is a mixture of veterans and civilians Civilians benefit from listening to veteran speakers and veterans benefit from telling their stories to civilians
GallantFew was selected to partner with Catalyst Sports to provide adaptive climbing for veterans through a VA grant. GallantFew placed coordinators at eight gyms around the country and provided climbing for over a hundred veterans with disabilities. As part of this program, volunteers from USAA’s military employee resource group (most of them nonveterans) regularly volunteered at veteran climbing nights. Both veterans and civilians created friendships and learned better ways to communicate with each other
GallantFew-founded Brigade V, a collaboration of veteran Employee Resource Groups from across the nation, connects corporations starting or growing military-focused employee resource groups to corporations with robust groups Meeting monthly, group members share best practices in hiring, recruiting, and retaining veterans. Participants include Charles Schwab, State Farm, Leidos, Accenture, Lockheed Martin, and more
GallantFew collaborates regularly with the DFW area to host Memorial Day and Veterans Day events With an attendance of several hundred people, these events connect the local community to the veterans in their own backyards.
The GallantFew team regularly speaks at local community events and meetings, such as Rotary Club, to share a stories of military service and inspire patriotic civilians to take action.
GallantFew was originally founded to support the transition needs of US Army Rangers. Over time, GallantFew evolved into a robust national organization designed to assist all members of the military community.

Organizations like GallantFew not only provide much-needed services to veterans in transition but also allow us civilians to help make a difference as well, and Patriot Challenge is such a FUN way to do so!
I love the mission. Due to medical reasons, I was unable to serve in the military. GallantFew allows me to give back to those who have served our country and fill a void that has been present my entire life.
I love the awareness GallantFew raises about the challenges of veterans I think it's so easy to say one supports veterans, but it's another to truly understand their challenges and take action steps to help.
