Focal Point
with Caryl Shapiro
From the moment Caryl Shapiro got her hands on a Minox spy camera, a photographer was born. Though she’ll deny being a “real photographer” , her eye for beautiful imagery and worthwhile moments have inspired beautiful photos throughout her tenure in the craft.
“It's the love of seeing things in their beauty ”
Caryl’s multi-thousandimage catalog features landscapes, headshots, family reunions and her beautiful dog Laci, but she’s found a muse, of sorts, the in-between of flower petals. She’s captivated by the beautiful details and distinguishing features that each flower holds.
Much like people, snowflakes, and sunsets, no two are the same, and her photographs highlight and preserve their stunning uniqueness.

“Since I've been in Corso, I’ve been taking pictures of people, ” Caryl mentions “If I see a family get together, I'll ask them if I can take a picture, especially while their grandchildren are here. That's what I love to do. ”

Perhaps the most important aspect of photography is how it can preserve a moment. Having brought her Minox and later her Nikon 5000 around the world, Caryl is able to relive brilliant trips and reflect fondly on all of her adventures. Now, when she takes photos of other people, she’s able to gift them mementos of their adventures, clearer memories with their families, and more reminders of the good days they’ve shared together.
