National Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week Social Justice Team: Matilda Foster, Molly Canning, Emily Tidd, Zara Rippingale and Fergus McNamara
To launch National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week the Social Justice students posted notices in the bulletin and designed a banner at the entrance of Galen. National Sorry Day on May 26 gives people the chance to come together and share the steps towards healing for the Stolen Generations, their families and communities. Starting Thursday 27 May is Reconciliation Week. Australia’s theme for 2022 is “Be Brave. Make Change.” It is a challenge to all Australians to be brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so that we can make change and strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. It’s an important, serious and difficult job. But it’s also one that should be inspiring and uplifting for all Australians and all generations as we look to make reconciliation all our business.
