from the heart Dear Homecoming Friends,

Bill and I have been driving around on our old golf cart bringing in baskets of apples, peaches and pears that are so abundant this year.

As I write this, our kitchen counter is covered with this delicious gift of the harvest. We plan to carry these to neighbors and friends so they can make pies and cobblers, jellies and jams for their families who will soon gather for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Also, on my counter are stacks of DVDs and CDs, another harvest of creativity and growth. We know that the fruit will feed the body, and the music will nurture the spirit! Together, they are the best gifts we can think of.

In this harvest of music are the two DVDs and matching CDs (for the car) that are the nourishing result of the gathering of Homecoming women. These treasured friends sang their hearts out and bared their souls to each other. We ate together, told stories, and laughed our heads off! This experience is the best things I can think of to share with life-weary moms, discouraged friends, or daughters who need to sing and laugh, cry and pray!

And when friends and family gather for a celebration, it is a good time to remind ourselves of the simple things that last forever— home, relationship, and a pure daily relationship with God. These are the themes of the delightfully organic CD project of Joey and Rory: Inspired. Joey grew up in our hometown in a musical family, so singing her heart is as natural to her as Sunday mashed potatoes and sweet corn. Married to a gifted songwriter and living a simple life in the country where she even cooks for visitors, she sings with Rory stories of homespun miracles.
