Get your picture taken next to this giant icon, which is located just a few feet from the ship, as you disembark. While in Sydney, you can also take a journey through the highland villages, explore the scenic Cabot Trail, sail the golden inland seas or inspect the Fortress of Louisbourg — where every barn, barracks and pipe and drum corps appears just as it did when King Louis’ troops occupied the site in 1744.

Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, is one of the most unusual places we have ever been with natives there still living mostly from the sea. The setting for the great “Anne of Green Gables” stories is Prince Edward Island, a wondrous place that we will visit including the actual “Green Gables” house where Anne grew up. So much of the history of the Northeast and of my native Michigan is tied to the French missionaries who came through these ports and finally established missions in the new northern territory. And Quebec City is like visiting France without the great cost!
