The DeLand House Museum was built in 1886 for DeLand’s first attorney, Arthur George Hamlin, who also developed the Hamlin Orange. Originally a 1.5 story structure, the house was built on land purchased from Henry A. DeLand, the city’s founding father. The history of DeLand, coupled with artifacts and historic items, is gathered here.

Knowledgeable and friendly tour guides will guide visitors through the recently restored and updated mansion and school house. Guests will see the country’s most beautiful and elaborate inlaid parquet floors (16 different patterns) and antique windows with over 10,000 panes of glass. This is an all access tour and nothing is marked “private” so the tour includes the private owners quarters as well! The Grand Tour includes the third floor where guests will see 3 designer decorated bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, the Boardroom and the Stetson Memories Room. A deeper history lesson about the Stetson Hat will be offered in the Stetson memorabilia room.

The Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum is one of a few of its kind in the state of Florida. It houses a collection of photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts that are displayed to educate citizens and students about the history and race relations in small-town Florida over the course of the 20th century.

Halifax Historical Museum, Daytona Beach

The museum’s permanent exhibits showcase the history of the greater Daytona Beach area, from Ormond Beach through Ponce Inlet and Port Orange (known as the Halifax Area, after our river), the museum’s timeline begins with artifacts dating from 2,500 to 5,000 B.C.E.

The Ormond Beach Historical Society shares the rich history of Ormond Beach through education and preservation. It preserves and promotes some of the most significant historical sites and structures in Ormond Beach, including The Casements, the Indian Burial Mound (c. 800) located on South Beach Street across from Ames Park, the Pilgrim’s Rest Primitive Baptist Church (c. 1879) in Bailey Riverbridge Gardens Park, and much more. The Ormond Beach Historical Society furthers its mission by offering scenic historical bus and walking tours, lectures, programs, displays, and publications detailing Ormond Beach’s and Florida’s history.
