Tree City USA

Tree City USA is one of the Arbor Day Foundation’s oldest programs. The founders had a vision for a greener, healthier America, and hoped this initiative would inspire change on a nationwide level.

As part of this program, the City of Greenacres celebrates Arbor Day by continuing the tradition of planting trees every April. The simple act of planting a tree represents a belief that the tree will grow to provide us with clean air and water, cooling shade, habitat for wildlife, healthier communities, and endless natural beauty...all for a better tomorrow.

The City of Greenacres is proud to have received the Tree City USA Growth Award for the past 30 consecutive years.

Do Not Feed the Wildlife

Human activities can attract certain wildlife species looking for an easy meal or shelter. Unfortunately, wildlife that are fed by humans can become aggressive and harass and/or lose their fear of people. When improper interaction with humans occur, such as feeding or providing shelter, the animal(s) can present a threat to public safety by causing property damage and becoming a nuisance to the community; not to mention their droppings are left on park benches, gazebos and playgrounds.

Human food is not healthy for wild animals as they have specialized diets and hand feeding can also result in the transfer of illnesses.

To maintain a safe community for everyone, please DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE.
