Structural Form to Ideas Inspired by Nature

Jungle frame house is a great design that came out in the year 2018 by Studio Saxe. Studio saxe designs always focuses on sustainability and natures environment . It maximise the sensory experience with the context of the site with consideration of ventilation and natural sunlight.

Simple breakdown of spaces on the 2nd level of the building.

Left space and right space creates contrast that complements and balances the harmony of elements .

Left is large with hollow cavity while right consist of small spaces that are densely packed.

Left has open daylighting while right has enclosed lighting

CIRCULATION

Hierarchy Based on the observation from the floor plans, we could see that the public space at ground floor has the most circulation while moving to the first floor, we have the bedrooms which are more of private spaces. Lastly we have the mezzanine at the second floor with the least circulation showering that it has hierarchy from top to bottom.

SITE CONTEXT

Our building’s Jungle Frame House's context is around nature and Studio Saxe decided to maximize the sensory experience by making use of the airflow in the jungle. The vertical atrium is what makes the building different from others, allowing the building to be ventilated well from the open spaces creating good airflow throughout the building by bringing in cool air and forcing the hot air out to cool down the building.

SPACE PLANNING

The concept of the house space planning is mostly based off the principal of scale and proportionality show cased through the explorationof squares of different sizes that are interlocked together to form both the public and private spaces in the structure The Architect further more used the concept of solids and voids to furthermore emphasize the contrast between the private and public spaces in this structure through the Atrium and Bedrooms.

STRUCTURE

As Jungle Frame house is to build mainly by allowing residence more closely to nature and all materials where chosen to have minimum impact on sited, Jungle Frame House is made by lightweight materials like steel, glass, wood and concrete. The vacancy of major structure of jungle frame house is occupied by steel I-beams. The connection point of I-beam make the structure come up with intersections and make the structure a grid.
