While travelling I tallied and aimed to name every roadkill on our path. The expectation before leaving was to document the amount to map our journey between place to place without considering the psychological impacts of this intention. To say it didn’t move me would be a lie and while starting out as a way of measuring distance developed into analysing such a minute window of the Anthropocene and our shifted realities of country. The swiftness of a life taken, Without reccognition, ackowledgment or commonly without stopping the car.

“ The legacies of western mechanism have manifested through repeated assertions of human exceptionalismthat man is the only animal to make tools; that man is the only animal with language, a sense off fairness, generosity, laughter; that man is the only mindful creature. On the other hand, however, the term Anthropocene reminds us that it is not yet time to jettison a sense of human exceptionalism.
