Hotel Borg is a Reykjavik landmark. Its status as Iceland’s first and most celebrated deluxe hotel has endured for nearly a century. It was the vision of wrestling champion Jóhannes Jósefsson, who made a fortune as a circus performer in America, where his dream of creating a luxury hotel in Iceland was conceived. Since its completion in 1930, it has been a magnet for everyone from heads of state to the famous and glamorous, becoming entwined with Icelandic history along the way. The stories of the past live on in its walls, as it remains the epitome of understated sophistication.
Borg Restaurant is a new restaurant, located within Hotel Borg's historic interior. With the opening of Borg Restaurant, we want to honor and respect the restaurant’s history and we want to reflect parts of the past in our daily routine with service and cooking. We cook beautiful and tasty dishes where we use classic cooking methods. Our goal is to continue to create new and positive memories at Hotel Borg for all newcomers, customers, and staff.

The Golden Circle tour allows visitors to get in touch with some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena. Our first stop is at Þingvellir National Park, which is one of Iceland's most significant historical sites. It's the home of Iceland’s first parliament which was founded in 930 AD. From Þingvellir we head along mountain tracks toward the world-renowned geothermal area around Geysir Hot Spring, the one spouting hot spring on Earth after which all other spouting hot springs are named. From there we continue on to Gullfoss (“the Golden waterfall”) where your proximity to its edge is so close you can feel the spray of the glacial water on your face Next, we kick the action into higher gear to get even closer to Iceland’s nature and go for a one-hour snowmobile tour on Langjökull, Europe’s second-largest glacier.

Join us on our newest boat for an amazing 2-hour RIB Express tour! During the tour we will take you out to get up close and personal with the magnificent whales of Faxaflói Bay. Our 12-meter-long boat allows us to get very close to the animals in a way that's extra safe for both our passengers and the whales. On the way out to the whale watching area we will stop by the puffin island Akurey to catch a glimpse of these adorable seabirds that live around the coast of Iceland during their nesting season. When we head out into the bay it's a fast, thrilling ride with the wind in your hair - we have a comfortable cruising speed of 32 knots so we have plenty of time out in the whales' feeding grounds. During this day tour, you will get to experience Katla Ice Cave, also known as "The Secret Ice Cave". The glacier presents you with black, white, and blue ice that is over 800 years old! Inside the cave, there are high walls of ice that have been sculpted by glacial water throughout the centuries. Water drips all around and the air is cold and fresh. The beautiful Seljalandsfoss has a path where you can walk behind the stream without getting (too) wet for a unique viewing angle followed by the mighty Skógafoss waterfall; walk and drive on black sand beaches pounded by the Atlantic surf and see the bird cliffs that surround the quaint coastal village of Vík. On the way home, we drive past the greenhouse town of Hveragerði, a place named after the abundant geothermal activity in the area which allows the locals to grow all kinds of plants and produce in row upon row in greenhouses. The sights on Iceland's South shore and Katla Ice Cave are impressive, and exploring them in a Superjeep makes the experience even more memorable.
