「comings and goings」 「ここを何人の人が通ったのだろうか？」 今は物置になっている古い家の木戸を開けて入ろうと、かがんだ瞬間にそんな疑問が頭をよぎ る。時間をさかのぼって想像してみると様々な時代に、その時々を暮らす人々が行き来してい たであろう、この入り口であり出口は、そこに在り続けている。ところが数年前の台風の後、 破損が激しく一部、取り壊わしを余儀なくされた。 今は、元あった形から３分の２ぐらいが残っ ているが老朽化は進んでいて雨漏りや歪みがひどい状態でいずれ取り壊される時が訪れる。 時の流れともに以前から目にしていたものが姿を変えてゆく。 今ここにあるものと出会い、失われてゆくものを見届ける。 一瞬、頭をよぎる疑問は私の存在証明につながる手がかりになってほしいと、願っている。 作家コメント 2016/07 個展「comings and goings」Gallery Den mym 本館
『あとにとどまる』 玄関近くに置かれている、犬の顔のように見える石。 いままで犬を飼ったことがない我家に所帯をを持った頃から置かれていて、これは泥棒除けに と父が持ってきてくれたものです。角の丸い、その三角形の石は言われてみると動物の顔のよ うに見えるので犬顔の石と言う事にして毎年お盆とお正月には感謝の気持ちを込めて、お供え 物を供えています。この石の塊は、なかば父から押し付けられたようなところがあるものの、 犬顔の石がいる事は私の気持ちの片隅でとても安心感を与えてくれると共に、かえって戸締ま りに用心深くなったりします。 ふっと気がつくと身の回りに残されている様々なメッセージ。 『あとにとどまる』とは、私の身辺に残された様々なものをモチーフとした作品で、いまはまだ 近くにあるのですが、いずれ無くなってしまうもの。どこか別の場所に移ってしまうものがモ チーフになっているのです。 ずっと同じ場所にあり続ける事は出来ないが、いま目に映るものを作る。 家の形、ノートブック、背広、取り残されたもののメッセージとの出会いが私を作品制作へと 衝き動かすのです。 作家コメント 2014/07 ART OSAKA 2014 個展
「回想する家」 二年前、今は物置として使っている古い木造家屋から、埃を被った大学ノートが数冊見つかり ました。ページの間には大小様々な紙片が挟み込まれ膨れ上がり、 シミや黄ばみが浮かびあがっ ていました。 ノートは、実家の家業でありました農業の年間耕作記録がびっしりと書き込まれており、いわ ば農耕日誌なのですが、あいまに短く家族のことも記録されていました。「１月 23 日 小学校 参観日」 、 「７月３日 保育園七夕まつり」 、私と兄のことがよくでてきます。 一年のなかで季節の作物が移り変わり、様々な作業が淡々と繰り返されるなかで子供は成長し、 時が進行していく。読み進むうちに、ノートが様々な思いとともにとどめ置かれた、ある時代 の塊のようにも見えてきました。同時に、 人の在る証なのだと思いました。そしてノートはずっ と、この家の机のひきだしに在り続けたのでした。 今、私の日常は、内容こそ違えど、ノートが書かれた頃と同じように一年が過ぎてゆき、子供 は暮らしに変化をもたらしていきます。そして、どうしても作らざるを得ない気持ちになって しまう事柄に遭遇し、衝き動かされるのです。 今回制作したノートブックシリーズは、ページをめくることが出来ないノートの形をした塊で す。凝縮された証としてノートの形をいくつも並べようと考えました。制作することは、人生 の輪郭を形作ることではないかと考えています。 作家コメント 2011/09 個展「回想する家」ギャラリーヤマグチクンストバウ
